How to reduce Hair fall | Hair Care

1. Protection from the sun : Sun rays can damage your hair as UV rays make your tresses brittle. Avoid stepping out in the sun during the peak hours. Whenever you go out, make sure that your hair is protected with a scarf or a headgear.

2. A massage a day to keep the hair fall away : Now this is a tip to borrow from your grandmother! Regular oil massage keeps your hair healthy. It increases blood circulation and prevents hair loss. Massage your hair regularly for a few minutes with different hair oils like coconut oil, almond oil or olive oil for shiny and strong hair.

3. Nutrition check : Your hair is what you eat goes the saying. Deficiency of nutrients like Vitamin E and B can lead to hair fall. Make sure you include plenty of protein rich foods in your diet.

4. Avoid tight ponytails : Tight ponytails look smart but stress out your hair and scalp! Try to loosen up your ponytail to ease the tension on your hair. Avoid plastic bands and switch to fabric bands for regular use. Keep your hair braided to reduce the hair fall.

5. Trim your hair every few weeks to get rid of split-ends. Split-ends prevent the growth of your hair and can make your hair look dull.

6 Simple Tips for Healthy Long Hair

Anyone who has struggled to grow their hair and succeeded will tell you that there is a lot more to ensuring you have healthy long hair, than simply shampooing, conditioning, and combing it regularly. The key to healthy long locks is in a comprehensive hair care routine, along with certain lifestyle and dietary changes. Your nutrition, sleep patterns, and stress levels impact the quality of hair, as they affect the various bodily processes that promote hair growth.

Here are some simple tips for healthy long hair :

1. Brushing – Experts will often suggest that you brush your day at least 50 times a day, as this improves circulation. While this may be true, this is not a practical solution for most working professionals with long hair; brushing your hair can be rather time consuming when you grow it long. Instead, try to brush it every hour or two, before going to bed, when you wake each morning, and whenever you do get a chance to. Brushing your hair a few times a day beats doing it just once, or not at all!

2. Oiling – Oil and massage your hair once or twice a week to provide it with some much-needed nutrition and gently massage your scalp while applying the oil. You can use a combination of different oils, but coconut and almond oil are among the most popular for hair care. Try to avoid products with strong fragrances and added chemicals, as these are likely to be harsh and damaging to the follicles.

What’s your Hair Story? | Dove Share the Secret Campaign

Hey everyone!

If you recall, I’d partnered with Dove for a campaign last year (in case you didn’t know, read about it HERE).  Part of the campaign involved bloggers sharing the story of their hair. Everyone’s hair has a story – some have had long hair during childhood, nurtured and pampered by mothers and grannies with weekly oil massages while the others (like me!) started growing their hair in their later teens. Here’s the story of my hair and the different things in my life that have affected it. I’d love to know your Hair Story in the comments section at the end of this post!

2 years back, I would have never thought that I would be blogging about makeup and beauty. I am Ankita, a 23 year old beauty blogger living in Mumbai. I have just completed my B.Tech degree from IIT Bombay few months back and now I am working full time on my blog Corallista which I started in January 2011. I have an engineering degree and beauty and cosmetics hardly figured in my life 2 years back. I was facing severe hair fall and acne issues and a bit of online research led me to beauty blogs. I was hooked to beauty blogs from Day 1 and soon began to write myself. What started out as an interest soon developed into a passion and by the summer of 2011, I was blogging on my own domain.

Do your experiment with your hair?

[note color=”#FFE4C4″] Not much lately except for using Lush Caca Brun Henna earlier this year which gave my hair a nice brown color which I quite liked. Last year I experimented quite a bit – I got my hair smoothened and also got global highlights, I loved the smoothened look though the highlights took a while to get used to! I cut my hair short earlier this year to get rid of the half-straight, half wavy look you get a few months after smoothening. I’m a little bored lately with my hair, thinking of trying out the new L’Oreal Casting Creme gloss shades or Lush Caca Maroon.

How much do you experiment with your hair? Have you tried anything lately that you loved? [/note]
