Fun Saturdays Vol.55 : 5 Random Things

1. What are you craving right now?

I would love to have some kind of a dessert right now, anything! I blame it on MasterChef completely as I watched a dessert challenge some time back and haven’t stopped thinking about it ūüėõ (Image credit :¬†Source)

2. What was the last movie you saw?

The Conjuring! Not the best story line in my opinion but some of the scenes were scary!

3. What kind of foundation finish do you prefer?

I prefer slightly dewy, luminous looking finish though in the summers, I have to stick to matte as I have oily skin. However, if I am staying indoors in the air conditioning, I can get away with wearing my favorite finish. I am currently loving the Guerlain Parure de Lumiere foundation.

Guerlain Parure de Lumiere Foundation

The foundation is really easy to blend and gives a beautiful naturally glowing, luminous finish to the skin. Its not the best one for oily skin as my T-zone gets shiny fairly quickly if I don’t prime but I just love its finish so much! Its one of the those amazing foundations that look great in person and in pictures. The coverage is about medium, ¬†I’ve worn it in THIS post most recently. I like pairing this with the Clinique Superprimer in Universal. *Pictured here : tester size (not the actual size).

Clinique Superprimer for face : Universal

This is a primer that does it all – it softens the imperfections, makes the skin smoother, helps foundation glide on easier and keeps my foundation fresh for a longer time. I love that it doesn’t feel too silicon-y, too wet, or too dry – it has the perfect balanced texture! If there’s one thing its not too good at, it is oil control so if you have a very oily T-zone like me (especially in the summers), you need a good mattifying powder to set your foundation.¬†Price : Rs¬†1710

I’ve only worn this thrice but I’ve loved it in every application! Its essentially a hydrating, luminous foundation that gives a beautiful, flawless glow to the skin. The coverage is moderate and very natural and the finish isn’t matte but not very dewy either. Its not the best formula for oilier skin but I’ve found that it works fairly well with a primer underneath. The only drawback is that it has very fine shimmer which gives it the luminosity¬†which looks amazing otherwise but not in flash pictures (gives a slightly greasy look). But in person, it makes the skin look absolutely beautiful! I’ve found that shade no. 03 matches me perfectly. I’ve worn this foundation HERE.

Price : Rs 3500- 4000 (not sure of the exact price)

Bridal Update : Hunt for the Perfect Foundation (Guerlain, Lancome, Shiseido) + MAC Haul

Hey everyone!

As you would know, I’m planning on doing my wedding makeup myself and my biggest worry right now is finding the right foundation. I have a couple of foundations that I like quite a lot – MAC Matchmaster, Clinique Super Balanced and Bourjois Happy Light which have worked well for me and photograph well too. But I’ve always worn these in Mumbai where my skin is generally fairly oily. My skin tends to quite dry in winters when I am in hometown Bhopal and I really don’t know if my oily skin routine would work or not with just a richer moisturizer underneath.¬†I decided to check out some luxury brands for foundation. Here’s my experience so far ~

–¬†Guerlain¬†~

I love the staff at Parcos, Infiniti Malad. They are really sweet, helpful and fairly generous with samples. On my previous visit, I’d got samples for¬†Lingerie de Peau¬†and¬†Parure de Lumiere¬†foundation. The shade I got for the former was light for me but I really liked¬†Parure de Lumiere. It gave a very beautiful, glowing finish and felt moisturizing without being greasy. But it had tiny shimmer in the formula that didn’t show in person but can give a slightly oily look in flash pictures. Its not something everyone might notice, its not glaringly obvious but I can see it so that is out. But it did look very beautiful in person and in pics without flash!

Lancome ~

I had tried the new Teint Visionnaire foundation at the launch event and I thought it looked nice – gave medium coverage, very nice glowing finish. It made my skin a tad oily later but I’m thinking that would actually be a plus (with the dryness issues I’ll face when in Bhopal). I would like to try it again, get a sample and test it in flash pictures before I shell out 3500! But I do not like the Lancome counter nearest to my place (Inorbit Malad). The staff is not very helpful. They don’t give samples and only dab a tiny dot along the jawline when you want to try a foundation. Apparently applying foundation all over the face is against company policy (as is giving samples, according the SA).
