Fun Saturdays Vol.91 : 5 Random Things

Hi everyone! Sorry I’ve been MIA for a bit here. I went to visit my parents after a long time and even though I had plans of posting from my hometown, I ended up barely working at all! Many of you mentioned that you miss my Fun Saturdays post so I’m reviving this series after a long gap! Hopefully from here on we can make this a regular weekly feature!

Fun Saturdays 91

1. How was your week?

I spent the week with my parents in my hometown (Bhopal). I was visiting after a long time so it was really nice. I also spent time with my grandparents and cousins who I hadn’t met in a while. Bhopal was so much colder than Mumbai is in the winters but it was a good trip overall.

2. Do you have any beauty resolutions for 2017?

Yes! In skincare, I want to use more of natural brands and be more aware of the ingredients I’m using in my products. In makeup, I want to experiment more with color and edgier makeup looks! I’d also like to incorporate more drugstore makeup in my tutorial so that my looks are more accessible and easy to recreate.

Maybelline the Rock Nudes Palette | Tutorial

Hi everyone! Maybelline has just launched a new eye shadow palette, the Rock Nudes palette. This is a predominantly cool-toned palette with a few glitter shades, balanced out with satin-y colors. Even though the quality isn’t the best, you can do a few different looks with this palette. The pigmentation is average and the colors are not too intense, which makes it a little easier to use for beginners. The glitter shades were a bit dry and chalky but most of the satin and pearl finish colors were smooth in texture. I didn’t love this palette to be honest but it is priced quite affordably at Rs 899 and is available online as well as across Maybelline counters.

I’ve done a glamorous smokey eye look using this palette. Check out the video below!

HAUL - Amazon Beauty Makeover Store

Hi everyone! The New Year brings a fresh, new start and just like everyone else, I find myself thinking of resolutions, especially pertaining to beauty since this is such a big part of my life. One of my beauty resolutions this year is to pay more attention to my skin and hair, and be more mindful of the ingredients in the products that I use. Using clean, green, natural beauty products is one of my resolutions this year and I recently picked up a few products from the Amazon Beauty Makeover store. Amazon is my go-to platform for all beauty, lifestyle and home care needs and the specially curated stores that Amazon started last year have been very helpful in picking out products by season and trends.

Vichy Mineralizing Thermal Spring Water, Aqualia Thermal Night Spa | Review

Hi everyone! Today I’m reviewing two skincare products from the French brand Vichy – the Mineralizing Thermal Spring Water and the Aqualia Thermal Night Spa. I’ve been using the Night Spa on and off since the past few months while the Spring water is new to me. The Night Spa is a slightly different product – its a sleeping mask-treatment that helps moisturize the skin overnight.

Let’s take a closer look at these two products.

Freedom Pro Artist Pad Black Arts Palette

Hi everyone! I get a lot of queries regarding eye shadow palettes, especially those just starting out with makeup. I thought I’d share a quick recommendation with you. I picked up this palette from one of the Nykaa sales last year and have got so much use out of it! If you’re someone who would like to experiment a bit with eye makeup, the Freedom Pro Artist Pad – Black Arts is fantastic!

Freedom Makeup London Pro Artist Pad (Black Arts)

  • The palette is priced at Rs 2800 but during sales, you can get it for around Rs 2300 or so. Keep an eye out for the sale later this month if you’re interested in getting this palette!
  • It contains 28 eye shadows, mostly neutrals but the color variety is really good.
  • From light, matte nudes and shimmery pinks/peaches/golds to deeper bronze/brown/copper shades, the palette offers excellent color variation to suit the Indian complexion. There are a few cool colors too.
  • In terms of quality, except 1-2 shades, the eye shadows have a smooth texture, excellent color pay off, very good blendability and decent wear time (6+ hours).
  • While shimmers dominate the palette, it has enough matte shades, especially warm browns, to balance out the pearly colors. I think warm brown mattes are essential to add depth in the crease and for effortless smokey eyes. The browns in this palette are great!
