Face Massage Techniques for Healthy Skin

Hi everyone! Today I’ll be sharing a few techniques for face massage that you can include in your skin care routine. A face massage has amazing benefits for the skin. It boosts micro-circulation which means more oxygen and better delivery of nutrients to the skin. It can also help firm up sagging facial muscles and improve the elasticity of the skin. While regular facials at the parlor is a luxury that few of us can afford, its easy to do a facial or a simple massage at home on a weekly or fortnightly basis. Have a look at my face massage techniques video below to know more.

Face Massage Techniques

A few pointers to keep in mind :

  1. Always start with clean hands and a cleansed face.
  2. Use light pressure when working around the delicate eye area.
  3. Make sure to use a good quality cream/lotion/oil for your massage. Something which feels nourishing is good but if it contains nutritious ingredients that help add a glow to the skin, even better! My pick – Forest Essentials Soundarya Radiance CreamThis is a powerful combination of 24 Karat Gold Bhasma, effective herb infusions, unprocessed oils, pure cow’s ghee and nourishing roots; that are stored and simmered over a slow fire in copper vessels that impart their own potent properties to these.
  4. Use a floral face water or thermal spring water mist to aid the massage. The skin tends to absorb the cream after a while so its helpful to use a mist to add some slip to the skin.
  5. Avoid excessive rubbing on areas where you may have broken/irritated skin or active acne.

5 Tips for Beginners Anti-Ageing Skincare

With increasing stressful and unhealthy lifestyles, skin-ageing is becoming a growing concern for us. The first signs of ageing can start as early as mid-20s and it is important to identify these subtle changes in our skin and take the right steps to ensure healthy, youthful looking skin. While wrinkles appear much later, dryness and dull/uneven skin are the early signs that should alert you about the changing needs of your skin. I started noticing changes in my skin when I was around 25-26. My formerly oily skin began getting more and more dry patches and while the t-zone stayed oily, I noticed longer periods of dehydration which an oil-free moisturizer just couldn’t fix. Today I’m sharing my top 5 tips that can help ease you into a beginners anti-ageing skin care routine.

Tip 1 : Switch to a gentle face wash

Harsh face washes do more harm than good and switching to a mild and gentle face wash is one of the best things you can do for your skin! I prefer using gel-based, non-foaming face washes that don’t leave my skin feeling dry and stretchy. Avoid face washes that produce too much lather and check the ingredient list. Ingredients to avoid would be Sodium Lauryl Sulphate (SLS) and ingredients to look for would be humectants like Glycerin that help retain moisture.

Tip 2 : Anti-ageing moisturizer + Sun protection

As my skin transitions from oily to combination, finding the right kind of day moisturizer became a challenge. Most anti-ageing moisturizers felt too rich and my usual oil-free moisturizers just didn’t feel nourishing enough anymore. When Olay launched their Total Effects Lightweight Moisturizer early this year, I was ecstatic as the texture was just what I was looking for. It combines all the benefits of the Total Effects range with a light, non-greasy, fast-absorbing formula that is works very well for the Indian skin type. According to Olay’s Multi Ethnicity Skin Study, Indian women have a weak skin barrier as compared to other ethnicities, which means retaining moisture is harder, making this product ideal for Indian skin and weather conditions. Winter Dry Skin Saviours | The Body Shop Vitamin E Range | REVIEW

Hi everyone! Winters are here and I’m sure we all can fee the nip in the air and changing needs of our skin. Today I’m reviewing a few products from the Vitamin E range from The Body Shop. This skin care line is geared towards hydration and there are several products in here that I really like using in the winters.

The Body Shop Vitamin E Range

Previously, I’ve talked about the Moisture Mask from this range, which continues to be a winter favorite. I also really like the Toner from this range which has a thicker consistency than most toners and feels very comforting on the skin. For the warmer months, I quite like the Aqua Boost Sorbet moisturizer, with its unique refreshing gel texture and light feel. The Face Mist is another long time favorite, and probably the first product I ever tried from the range (here’s a little throwback for you, circa 2011!). A few new products have been added recently to the range and in this post, I’ll be sharing my review on 4 of products from the range which I’ve not tried before.

Eye Creams that Work!

Hi everyone! Today I’ll be talking about two eye creams that I’ve been using for the past 5-6 weeks that have been working really well for me. You might recall seeing a mention of these on my Snapchat or Instagram some time back. When it comes to eye creams, I’ve had more misses than hits and there’s no particular brand or product that I’ve been compelled to repurchase. But I’ve finally stumbled upon two options that have shown really good results for me.

DOs and DONTs for Acne Free Skin

Makeup Look - Brown and Peach

Acne and pimples can pop up when you least expect it, leaving you feeling distressed. Getting rid of acne does not have to be strenuous, it just needs some care for your skin as well as your overall health. Here are a few simple dos and don’ts to get rid of acne.

Skin care DOs for clear acne free skin

Wash your hair regularly: This will reduce the chances of oil from your hair transferring to you skin and affecting it. Regularly washing your hair can help in preventing breakouts. Keeping the scalp free from dandruff is also important for acne free skin.

Switch to a gel based cleanser: Cream based cleansers can aggravate the issue of excess oiliness. Acne is aggravated by excess oil and cream based products so switching to a gel cleanser helps in clearing the skin and reducing breakouts.

– Choose oil-free or non-comedogenic cosmetic products. Anything that clogs pores can lead to acne so look for the non-comedogenic label when buying cosmetics.
