My Illuminate Makeover at Lakmé Absolute Salon | Review

Hi everyone! Lakmé Salon has introduced a range of new services as part of their new Illuminate menu and I visited the salon at Bandra few days back to try out some of the new skin, hair and nail services. The Lakmé experts have interpreted the Illuminate theme with a fresh perspective and we see some sparkle, some color and shine in the new hair, nail and makeup looks. In addition to these bold and colorful looks, there are a few skincare services too like the Illuminate facial and Insta Sheen Facial. You can request the Illuminate catalog when you visit the salon or have a look at here.

I opted to try out the Copper Dust Manicure, the Candy Flush Hair Color and the Perfect Radiance Illuminate Facial for my review. All these services are available across Lakmé Salons in India and in Lakmé Absolute Salons in Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore. You can find your nearest Lakmé Salon here and explore the different services offered here.

Rene Furterer Melaleuca Anti-Dandruff Shampoo – Review

The Rene Furterer Melaleuca Anti-Dandruff Shampoo comes in a tube packaging with a flip open cap. The shampoo is a yellow colored liquid which is slightly runnier than most shampoos. Melaleuca means tea tree and this contains tea tree oil as one of the anti-dandruff agents. Hence, it smells like tea tree oil, a herbal, slightly clinical scent. The shampoo lathers fairly well but not too heavily. Unfortunately, its not free from sulphates and contains SLES (Sodium Laureth Sulphate) which is not as harsh as SLS but nonetheless, not the most desirable foaming agent in a shampoo.

The shampoo cleans well and regular use does help purify and cleanse the scalp. Whether it be product buildup on the scalp or dry, flaking dandruff, this helps eliminate it with regular use without drying out the hair. Mass brand anti-dandruff shampoos can dry out the hair leaving it a frizzy mess but this shampoo leaves my hair feeling clean, bouncy and fresh. It contains safflower seed oil which I think helps in keeping the drying part out of the picture and it also contains Zinc Pyrithione which curbs the growth of fungus. This compound is also found in most cheap dandruff shampoos so its a particularly exotic or natural ingredient.

Home Remedies To Cure Dandruff | Haircare

Dandruff can be an embarrassing problem and is often common in summer and rainy season. Anti-dandruff shampoos provide some relief but can often be harsh on the scalp and hair. Home remedies can be very effective against dandruff when used regularly, and don’t have any adverse effects unlike strong synthetic chemical products.

Here are 10 all-natural remedies to get rid of dandruff –

1. Coconut oil and lemon massage : Lemon’s citric property works wonders, by reducing dandruff. Heat two tablespoons of coconut oil and mix it with an equal amount of lemon juice. Gently massage the mixture into your scalp and leave it for 15-20 minutes. Rinse off your hair, using a mild shampoo.

2. Neem leaves are known for their anti-fungal properties and are quite effective against dandruff. Grind the neem leaves and make a thick paste and apply it on your scalp. Leave the paste for 10-15 minutes and then rinse your hair.

3. Tea tree oil is renowned for its fungicidal properties, making it an excellent remedy for dandruff. Add a few drops of tea tree oil to your shampoo and massage it into your scalp for a natural alternative to harsh cosmetic shampoos. This simple kitchen ingredient is quite effective to treat dandruff as it has anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties.

4. Soak some fenugreek seeds (methi dana) and grind them to make a paste. Apply the paste on your scalp and leave it for 20-30 minutes, before washing it off with a mild shampoo.
