1. While working with dark eye shadows and smoky eyes, it’s always a good idea to do the eye makeup before the foundation. The reason is simple; any fallout from the eye shadow can spoil the foundation.  

2. Start by priming the eyes. Next, apply a thick layer of black kohl on the waterlines, along the lash lines and on the entire eye lid. Take the kohl right into the tear duct to rim the eyes completely. I prefer using long stay kohl like Lakme Absolute Ultimate Kohl to prevent smudging/bleeding.

I’m doing a Celebrity inspired look post after a while today! The inspiration behind this look is Adele’s Oscars 2013 Makeup. She wore a heavily lined eye with false lashes and a soft rosy lip/cheek combination. I loved her look and I thought she looked absolutely flawless!

To be honest, I was a little disappointed when I first saw all the Red Carpet pictures from the Oscars. With a few exceptions, almost everyone had gone a very a natural route with nude/pale pink lipsticks and subtle eyes. There was an occasional bright lip and rare (and very unflattering!) smokey eye. I was hoping for a little more risk, a little more color but I guess most celebs stuck to a classic, natural look this time round.

1. Adele

I absolutely loved her look! With strongly defined eyes, flawless skin and a soft rosey lip, Adele looked absolutely stunning! I think this is such a great look for nearly all skin tones, one just needs to tweak the lip color and blush to suit one’s skin tone. Her lips looked matte in most pictures to me and reminded me of Make Up For Ever Rouge Artist Intense lipstick Mat 4 which is great matte neutral pink for medium skin tones.

2. Jessica Chastain

She wears this glamorous red lips look to perfection! A pale champagne eye shadow (looks like MAC Naked Lunch) all over the lid with thin liner and loads of mascara complements the satiny red lip beautifully!

3. Anne Hathaway

I think she looks lovely with a pop of sweet rose lipstick on her lips. Her weight loss for her role in Les Miserables is rather alarming, I wish she’d put on a little weight now!

Actress and former Ms World Aishwarya Rai Bachhan recently sported a classic cat eye pink lip combination at her 39th birthday celebrations. The makeup worked beautifully with the heavily embroidered coral pink outfit and can be tweaked to suit any skin tone. The focus of this look is on the defined cat eyes. Natural pink lips and a dusty natural blush complete the look.

1. To get the look, start by applying a copper or chocolate eye shadow like Lakme Absolute eye shadow duo in Day Shimmer (dark shade) or L’Oreal Paris Infallible eye shadow in Endless Chocolate all over the eye lid and soften the edges in the crease with a blending brush.
