Lately I have been getting a lot of mails and queries about How to get rid of Facial hair. I know how pesky facial hair can be for women because I myself have an annoying amount of hair growth on my face and body. But the good news is that with regular maintenance, you can keep it under control and it does reduce with time!
Now there are a couple of different ways you can remove facial hair -
Threading is the most common way and inexpensive as well. Most parlors in India offer services for brows, upper lip, chin, side locks and the full face as well. Threading does hurt a bit but I personally prefer this method over all others because its quick, easy, inexpensive and I get minimal rashes with threading. I have got face wax done twice years back and both times I got horrible rashes on my face that took days and days to subside! I don’t even have sensitive skin but waxing on the face just didn’t work for me.
How to get rid of Facial hair – Threading
Since I have to face the camera for my blog/youtube at least 2-3 times a week, I need to keep my face hair-free and I thought learning how to do threading myself would be a handy skill since going to the parlor every time wasn’t feasible. So I watched a couple of videos on Youtube on how to do threading and after a couple of trials, I got the hang of it. It is pretty easy to do and now since about 2 years, I’ve been threading my face (except brows) myself. I don’t want to mess up my brows so I just pluck out the stray hairs with a tweezer, I don’t thread my brows myself. I typically thread my chin, jawline, side lock area and upper lip once in 2-3 weeks. Because I generally get really dark hair growth, removing this facial hair makes my skin look clearer, brighter and more glowy. Based on personal experience, I highly recommend threading if you want an inexpensive solution to removing facial hair.
A lot of women opt for waxing for the face but like I mentioned earlier, it didn’t work for me. I got terrible bumps and rashes all over my face and I’ve never had such a bad reaction to anything. I had to slather my face with soothing aloe vera gel for at least a full week before they started subsiding. It was quite unpleasant especially since I got it doen once near my birthday and everyone kept asking me what had happened to my face :|
But once the rashes subsided, my face felt really smooth and soft. And foolishly few months later, I tried facial waxing again with the same episode of rashes all over again. After that I have sworn off facial waxing, its just too harsh for my skin. But I know a lot of women who get it done and don’t face such an extreme reaction. I had also read that some parlors have something called katori wax which is supposed to be for the face but I tried 3-4 parlors and salons in Mumbai and couldn’t find it.
If you don’t get a bad reaction to facial waxing, it can be an inexpensive and relatively longer lasting solution (4-6 weeks) than threading. So go for it if it works for you!
