Hi everyone! Today I’ll be talking about my recent hair colouring experience at the L’Oreal Professionnel Academy, where I tried out their new French Brown hair color along with the Smartbond bond strengthening system. I’ve experimented a little with hair color in recent years and lightening/bleaching has quite often led to rough, damaged hair. This time though, I had a vastly different experience due to the use of Smartbond, which I’ll talk more about later in this post.
What is Smartbond? Its a protective and strengthening service, that strengthens the hair during technical services (such as bleach and haircolor). It helps damaged, sensitised and dull hair become more resilient, shinier and softer. Smartbond has 2 components, an additive that is mixed with the hair color/bleach at the time of color application, and a pre–shampoo that is used after rinsing color or bleach. Its finishing action after the service helping rinsing off all chemical residues breaking weak bonds. It is designed for hair dressers and you can avail this service at L’Oreal Professionnel salons.
You can see how dark my hair color was before. There wasn’t really any dimension/gradient or highlights to add a bit of interest to the look, it was just a single tone. I didn’t give too many guidelines to my hair stylist at the academy, I just mentioned that I didn’t want to go too light and quite liked the beautiful French Brown palette which is this year’s style statement. Its a very chic and elegant hair color style, mostly with medium to dark shades of brown with subtle hints of lighter shades for some dimension. I think its a style that is very flexible and universally flattering.
The coloring process took a few hours and a fair bit of mixing of colours, with lots of strategic layering. I really couldn’t be happier with the result! I now have a rich dark brown base color with subtle highlights that frame my face. The placement of the lighter shades was done in accordance with my round face shape. I think it turned out very sophisticated, very elegant looking and overall I’m very pleased with the color!
Now coming to the feel of my hair, it does feel quite soft and shiny as compared to my previous hair color experiences. There is none of the roughness and excessive dryness that I had come to associate with highlighting. I feel like my hairfall has slightly reduced as well, which is really contrary to past experience. I would definitely recommend trying out the Smartbond system, especially if you’re considering bleaching or if you already have very sensitive/damaged hair. It definitely does make a big difference in how your hair feels and looks after the color!
And here’s a picture taken few days after the color. I love how healthy my hair looks despite colouring, thanks to Smartbond. I haven’t done any styling (heat) in the pictures below –
So that is all about my experience with the L’Oreal Professionnel SmartBond System. I would love to know if any of you have tried this system when you get your hair color. Let me know your comments below!
