Hi everyone! Today I’ll be talking about a new brand in the market, Hedonista, and a few of their all-natural beauty products. This is an Indian brand and all their products are created to deliver an indulgent, luxurious experience to the user. Hence the name, hedonista. The products are formulated without parabens, sulphates and silicones. They use only food-grade preservatives and no artificial colours or fragrance. I was sent 3 of their products to try out – the Hair Perfume, the Face Souffle and the Oudh Frozen Ittar.
The Hair Perfume (Rs 1210) comes in a 100 ml spray pump bottle and the fragrance comes entirely from pure essential oils. The scent is absolutely lovely with the freshness from the lemon, a little floral note from the gernanium and an earthy, herbaceous feel from the clary sage. It also contains essential oils of Roman chamomile and Lavender, both of which have a very soothing and calming effect on the senses. The scent is quite mild and I personally really like it for its pure, natural, botanical feel. The scent seems to linger for a few hours after which it fades away. Even though its a hair perfume, I like spritzing it on the body or my clothes in general, the smell is just very calming yet fresh!
I’ve tried solid perfumes before (from the brand Lush, which sadly pulled out of India a few years back) and I’ve always liked the travel friendly aspect of solid perfumes. Th Oudh frozen Ittar (Rs 1045) comes in a small tin and contains a base of fractionated coconut oil, beeswax, olive oil and avocado oil with oudh fragrance oil added to it. Oudh is a woody, resinous substance, also known as agarwood, which is obtained from a certain tree. The scent is very warm and woody, but not as heavy or cloying as vanilla or musk, but in the similar family of scents. Its a unisex perfume and is not too intense, which I like. The oily base melts when you rub your finger over the surface and you can then dab the perfume directly onto your pulse points. The scent is very pleasing, I like how natural it smells and if you like woody, unisex perfumes, you should give this one a try. The scent lingers for around 3-4 hours after which you need to reapply.
The last product I tried out is their Face Souffle (Rs 1650) which is basically a clay-based face mask containing cocoa powder. Just like the previous two products, I really enjoyed using this too because of the natural composition and pleasing botanical scent. It contains two kinds of clays – rhassoul clay (a moroccan clay) and calamine. Clays, as we know, help remove excess oil from the skin and also help in drawing out impurities from the pores. The mask also contains some natural oils which prevent the mask from being too drying on the skin, and essential oils of grapefruit, lavender and orange. It also contains cocoa powder which gives it that lovely chocolate-y color. The mask smells lovely and has a nice cleansing effect on the skin. Because of the natural moisturizers present (it contains glycerin as well), the skin doesn’t feel parched once you wash it off. Its not the most miraculous of masks but it feel pleasant and indulgent to use!
Overall, I really enjoyed using Hedonista products and I like the natural composition of the products. I think the scents in all the products have been done really well, but then I’m a big fan of essential oils so I knew I was going to love the pure, botanical feel of the products. In terms of the brand philosophy of delivering an indulgent, luxurious experience to the user, I think they have done well. I think the packaging could be improved, made to look and feel more premium, to match the price point and the quality of the products themselves.
