Hi everyone! MAC India has just launched the Diwali Light Festival Collection, a range that has got everyone excited as its inspired by our very own festival of lights! Its a small collection containing 2 eye liners and a limited edition, 9-eye shadow palette featuring beautiful eye shadows suited for Indian skin tones and inspired by the gold, red and blue of flickering flames and fireworks. Here’s a closer look at the star of the collection – the Light Festival palette. This palette is priced at Rs 3100 in India.
The imagery around this collection is gorgeous! I love the box this palette came in and the little look card is display-worthy as well! The palette is quite compact and the small pan size keeps the palette size very travel-friendly and easy to carry. The color selection is a mix of warm colors, neutrals and a pop of color with a blue and a green in the last row. It contains 2 dark matte shades to complement the remaining shimmer shades. Here’s a list of the shades in the palette (L-R, Top to Bottom) –
Ricepaper | Goldmine | Amber Lights
Coppering | Cranberry | Embark
Humid | Deep Truth | Carbon
MAC has suggested two looks using this palette. The first one is a warm neutral look with a pop of emerald along the lower lash line, courtesy of Humid, the rich green shade at the bottom left of the palette.
The second look is a shimmering pink eye which plays with the gorgeous fiery warm colors from the eye shadow palette. I’m definitely leaning more towards this look as I love a warm neutral eye!
The palette has 7 shimmer shades and 2 mattes – Embark (dark brown) and Carbon (sheer black). As for the color pay off, the colors show well on the Indian skin though some shades may need a little layering. The MAC eye shadows are not overly buttery but they feel reasonably smooth and are easy to work with.
When I first saw press images of the palette, I wasn’t bowled over but seeing it in person, I can the endless color combinations and looks one could do with this palette and the colors do work really well on the Indian complexion! The size of the palette makes it very easy to travel with as well. I suspect this one is going to fly off the shelves so if you’d like to buy this, head over to your nearest MAC store and catch this before its sold out!
MAC India very kindly sent me Mehr (matte) lipstick as well which is a beautiful dusky rose color. This is part of the permanent range. This soft pink would go beautifully with the bold eye shadow shades from the palette. I can’t wait to try this out!
Apart from the palette, the collection also contains Fluidline pen liner and Modern Twist Kajal in shade Squid which is swatched below. I’m trying out the Modern Twist kajal formula for the first time and I have to say, it gives new meaning to the words ‘soft’ and ‘creamy’! And the pigmentation is pretty amazing as well!
