Hair fall has always been a big problem for me and its only after years of trying out different products that I realised that fall from the roots aside, hair breakage contributes majorly to hair loss. Having hair that is dry, frizzy and wavy in nature, breakage happens easily with everyday activities like brushing and styling. Some time ago, I switched to high end brands, hoping they’d keep my hair in its best form. So I was pleasantly surprised when I tried out the new Pantene Hair Fall Control Shampoo & Conditioner as part of the Pantene India #14DayChallenge.

The shampoo is priced at Rs 110 for 180 ml while the conditioner retails for Rs 55 for 75ml.

The BlogAdda team sent me a sample of the new shampoo and conditioner along with a mystery, competitor product. For the sake of comparison, I tried out both the products and the Pantene one was a winner for me. While the mystery shampoo and conditioner left my hair a bit tangled, the Pantene worked much better at smoothing my unruly tresses.

The Pantene Hair Fall Shampoo and Conditioner come in a simple white tube packaging. Both are white in color and while the shampoo has a gel-cream consistency, the conditioner is on the thicker side which makes my thirsty hair quite happy. The shampoo lathers quite well (it contains SLS) and cleanses thoroughly. I don’t prefer very heavy lather so I like to dilute the shampoo a little with water so suit my preference. It leaves the hair feeling clean and doesn’t dry out the hair. I absolutely LOVE the fruity scent of this shampoo.

The conditioner, being quite rich and buttery, does a great job of nourishing and detangling. My hair gets dry and frizzy easily, so this was a real test but the conditioner fared quite well. I wish it had the same fruity scent as the shampoo, not that I don’t enjoy the pleasant scent of the conditioner. If you have normal hair or fine hair, you can get away with just a small amount of conditioner, but if you have thick, dry hair like mine, I’d recommend applying the conditioner generously to get the best results.

The conditioner is really the key to the hair fall control properties of this duo. While these two products don’t address hair fall at the root (which is a much more complex process and cannot be fixed as easily as switching shampoos), they do work quite well in reducing hair loss due to breakage. Since they leave the hair feeling quite smooth and silky after a wash, breakage and hair fall due to friction is reduced.

I hadn’t expected to like these two products as much as I did and for something priced so affordably, I think they perform really well. If you’ve been having hair fall due to breakage, do give the new Pantene Hair Fall Control range a go!
