Hi everyone! A few days back, I headed to the Clarins Skin Spa at Kemps Corner to try out one of their body treatments. You might recall my review of one of their facial treatments from a few months back. Today I’m sharing my experience with the Tri-Active Lift Sculptor Body Treatment.
The Tri-Active Treatment menu has 4 treatments to offer. The treatments are quite targeted and address different problems such as dryness, roughness, loss of elasticity and fluid retention. I chose the Lift Sculptor treatment that targets excess fluid in the tissues and promises a firmer silhouette with a feeling of lightness. Because of hormonal fluctuations, I tend to get a lot of fluid retention which gives a heavy, bloated and sometimes sore feeling in the tissues. So this treatment sounded like the perfect fit for me.
To help the therapist understand your body, you’re asked to fill out an assessment form sharing your skin details, routines, lifestyle and product references. Once that is done, the therapist takes you to the treatment room which is tastefully furnished with lots of soothing white tones, a blue ceiling mimicking the look of the sky and a few star Clarins products adorning the shelves. There is a cabinet at one end where you can keep your belongings. The ambience of the treatment room as well as the entire space is very soothing and sets the mood for a relaxing experience.
Once you’re changed into a disposable undergarment and safely tucked under several large towels, the therapist starts the treatment by first getting a feel of the roughness, moisture levels and firmness of the skin. She also discusses the treatment and explains what she is going to work on in the session.
The treatment is very much like a massage session but instead of oils, the therapist used a light weight body contour lotion. She started by cleansing my hands and feet with a warm, damp towel and used a light fragrance on her hands and around my neck/chest area to induce a state of relaxation. I love the herbaceous, botanical scents of Clarins products and the effect of the fragrance is instantaneous. She then started the treatment by massaging the sides of my legs using a combination of different kinds of movements like traditional effleurage, long firm strokes and percussion movements. The effect is partly energising and partly soothing as it relieves soreness and also gives a bit of a tingling sensation on the skin. This treatment is supposed to help with cellulite and the product used contains ingredients that give a bit of cooling, tingling sensation. After massaging the legs, the therapist moved on the arms, the neck and chest and then the back. The movement pattern was similar in all the parts. The one hour flew by quickly and before I knew it, we had reached the end of the session.
What I loved about the treatment was that my body seriously felt lighter after the treatment. I could see a marked difference in certain areas like my calves (and my ankles) which looked a little firmer and slimmer as the excess water and fluids had been drained away, leaving a feeling of lightness. All the soreness in areas like the thighs, sides of the chest due to water retention was gone and I felt utterly relaxed. And because the therapist had used a lotion instead of an oil, it had more or less absorbed into my skin and I didn’t need a shower after the treatment (which was perfect because I had an event to attend afterwards!).
Once I had changed back into my clothes, I was offered some green tea and dates which was a wonderful way to wrap up the session. Clarins also takes a very detailed feedback so if you want to suggest any improvements and rate their services, you can do so on the spot.
Overall, I had a really nice experience with the body treatment at the Clarins Skin Spa and I can see myself going back for this one. Unfortunately, the effects last only for 3-4 days but the results feel great, even if they are short-lived. If you’d like to try out any of the Clarins Skin and Body Treatments, here’s the address and location of the Spa – Parcos, No. 143, White Hall, Next To Shalimar Hotel, August Kranti Marg, Kemps, Corner, Mumbai.
