Hi everyone! Lakmé Salon has introduced a range of new services as part of their new Illuminate menu and I visited the salon at Bandra few days back to try out some of the new skin, hair and nail services. The Lakmé experts have interpreted the Illuminate theme with a fresh perspective and we see some sparkle, some color and shine in the new hair, nail and makeup looks. In addition to these bold and colorful looks, there are a few skincare services too like the Illuminate facial and Insta Sheen Facial. You can request the Illuminate catalog when you visit the salon or have a look at here.
I opted to try out the Copper Dust Manicure, the Candy Flush Hair Color and the Perfect Radiance Illuminate Facial for my review. All these services are available across Lakmé Salons in India and in Lakmé Absolute Salons in Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore. You can find your nearest Lakmé Salon here and explore the different services offered here.
Lakmé Perfect Radiance Illuminate Facial (Rs 1900)
I’ve had facials at Lakmé Salon in the past and always had an excellent experience. In fact, I had chosen to go with the Lakmé Youth Infinity Facial to prep my skin before my wedding and loved the result. I got this service done at the Lakmé Salon at Hill Road, Bandra. The Perfect Radiance Illuminate Facial is an ideal treatment for the summer since it balances oily skin and gives a radiance boost while targeting tan and hyper-pigmentation. The ritual lasts for 60 minutes and consists of cleansing, exfoliation (fruit peel followed by scrub), steaming, micro-current treatment, massage and masque. All the products used for this facial have a light, fruity scent which made my experience very soothing and refreshing.
Don’t worry if you experience a bit of tingling during the exfoliation step where they use a fruit peel. Its just the fruit acids and enzymes eating away the dead skin that tingles a bit. The micro-current treatment is done using a device that runs a small current on the skin surface which helps in better absorption of the serum which is applied right before. The massage was excellent and the masque that followed had a fresh, minty feel. The facialist advised me to avoid using soap for a day on my face so that the products applied during the facial have a chance to stay on the skin and work their magic. Overall, my skin felt (and looked!) a lot cleaner, clearer and had a nice glow after the 1 hour ritual. You can find out more about the Illuminate services here.
Illuminate Nail Art Advanced (Rs 500)
I got this service done at the Lakmé Absolute Salon at Linking Road (Bandra). I decided to go with the Copper Dust look which originally had black and copper sparkle on alternating nails. I’m not a big fan of black nail paints so I chose to go with a deep wine red with the copper sparkle. This is a gel manicure so its durable, stays fresh for 4 weeks (after which you need to visit the salon to get it removed) and looks amazing! It is however a time consuming process and the application took about 1.5 hours.
The nails are trimmed, buffed & polished and then fitted with an acrylic tip to add some length. The gel layer is then added by mixing a powder with a liquid solution which is applied thickly to the nails and cured under UV light for a minute or so. That is followed by more buffing and polishing to give them a perfect shape. Once the gel nail base is done, the colors are applied. The copper sparkle placement takes a while since each flake is placed carefully by hand to give a beautiful honeycomb effect. To seal the sparkle in, another gel coat is applied and cured under UV light to set.
The end result is well worth the time and you can see how gorgeous this nail look turned out!
Candy Flush Global Color (Rs 2100-4500)
I got this service done at the Lakmé Absolute Salon at Linking Road (Bandra). The Illuminate menu is full of bold and striking looks when it comes to the hair, makeup and nails. The color palette ranges from fiery reds and vibrant purples to warm copper and deep aubergine. I decided to stick to a slightly safer option with the Candy Flush look. This look was described as a Bronde Ombre – a warm, glowing mix of brown and blonde tints (see the look here). Everyone has different underlying tints in the hair and mine leans very reddish so this look on my hair is quite warm and more coppery/orange instead of the brown-blonde that I’d seen in the catalogue.
I went for the global color but you can also opt for full streaking instead. The charges range from Rs 2100 for short hair to Rs 4200 for long hair, with mid-length hair priced at Rs 3500. As you can see, the look is quite striking and does change my look significantly! I like how the ombre frames my face and it certainly photographs well! I received tons of great comments on my hair in my latest video and on Instagram. The stylist used Schwarzkopf Igora colors for this look. While I do like the change very much, I’m thinking it needs a little fixing with a purple toner as I’m not too fond of the orange-y tint. Also, since this look requires bleaching, you have to take a lot of care afterwards in terms of hair masques and regular hair spa as the hair can become very dry and brittle post bleach and color.
But if you want to change up your look a bit and try something different, the new Illuminate menu offers some amazing options!
I hope you found this review post helpful! All of the above services are available across Lakmé Salons in India and in Lakmé Absolute Salons in Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore. You can find your nearest Lakmé Salon here and explore the different services offered here.
