Lakme 9to5 Weightless Mousse Foundation | Review

Hi everyone!

Today I’m reviewing the Lakme 9-to-5 Weightless Mousse Foundation in shade 02 Beige Vanilla. This was a new launch early on in the year and to be honest, I did not like it one bit when I first tried it out. I’ve worn it several times since then and I feel a little differently about this product after some trial and error. Read on to know my thoughts on this lightweight foundation.

Lakme 9-to-5 Weightless Mousse Foundation – Review

The foundation comes in a rose gold plastic tube packaging. The packaging is simple, hygienic and easy to use. The texture of this foundation is like a dry mousse. It doesn’t feel very moist or smooth when you first apply it but it smoothens out as you massage it in. If you have any dryness on the skin, this would emphasize it so well moisturized skin is an absolute must while using this foundation otherwise it can look horribly patchy.

True to its name, the foundation has a weightless, feather-light feel on the skin. The coverage is sheer, it evens out the skin lightly but doesn’t give enough coverage to cover blemishes or hyper pigmentation. For those who prefer/need light coverage bases, this would be the ideal choice. I quite like the natural looking coverage for day to day wear and I love how it softens the look of pores, giving a smoother look to the skin.

In terms of longevity, this is fabulous. It actually stays very well on the skin and since it has a matte finish, it has quite decent oil control too. You would need a t-zone blot midway through the day but it keeps the greasiness at bay quite well. Overall, I think this is a good choice for people with normal to oily skin who like something light weight with natural coverage. The price seems a little on the higher side since this is the 9-to-5 range (generally this range is priced under 500) but you can always get it at a discount online.

The shade range is a bit limited with 4 shades but the yellow-toned shades work great for Indian skin. I use shade 02 Beige Vanilla which would be a good match for ladies with medium to medium-wheatish complexions.

You can see this in action in my College Makeup Tutorial.

It seems like a good choice for the summer months! Although the coverage seems a little too less for my taste..

For summers, I personally prefer this to the CC cream. You could try out the Mattreal Mousse from Lakme as well.

It is so great for summer 🙂

I did not liked this foundation because as you said it makes the blemishes and certain areas look horribly patchy no matter how much I moisturize. For me it’s a disappointment inspite of super oily skin..:(

Sad to hear it didn’t work for you. It is a bit tricky.

No use for my dry skin…I find it a bit expensive too as compared to the range and the quantity provided..

  9. May 31, 2016 / 11:38 am

I have not tried it yet.. but if it makes blemishes look worse I might not want to use this !

If you have dry patches around the blemish then it would highlight them. And it doesn’t give much coverage so not the best pick for blemished skin.

Hated the coverage of this. Did nothing for my blemishes.

The coverage unfortunately is quite low!

I love such lightweight base products when my skin is behaving

  12. May 31, 2016 / 3:10 pm

This looks very similar to my lakme mousse. I love the way it blends into the skin.

Ohh thats unfortunate! I generally like their shades for my complexion. The textures are either a hit or miss.

The packaging looks cute. I am currently trying out Sephora’s foundation which is really light weight but the coverage is not that great.

Which foundation are you using from Sephora? I’ve tried their primer but not given the foundations a try yet.

The texture in the swatch seems similar to the Mattreal skin natural mousse from from the Lakme absolute range..

Its similar but the Mattreal mousse is less dry and creamier in terms of consistency. I think it gives slightly more coverage too.

    I prefer the absolute mousse.

  18. June 2, 2016 / 3:50 pm

It looks good for the summers. But i have tried out the Lakme mousse before and did not like it so have mixed feelings on this too.

I wouldn’t recommend this if you didn’t like the Lakme Mattreal Mousse. Its along the same lines but drier in consistency.

Can you please sugguest a light weight matte foundation / cc cream . I have a combination skin. Most foundations either cake up or give flaky look on the dry patches especially nose and forehead .I have a light acne too.
