Clinique Lid Pop Eye shadow – Review
I’m a big fan of the Pop range from Clinique. The blushes were the first launch and the shade Peach Pop was an instant hit, right from the first application. Next came the lipsticks and once again, they were lovely! Next in line are the eye shadows which you might recall seeing in my Clinique x Vero Moda Beach Vacation look video. The packaging of the Lid Pop eye shadows is exactly like the blushes albeit a little smaller in size; transparent flip open compact with a round pan and a daisy pattern on the eye shadow. The eye shadows have a firm yet silky, smooth touch and the color pay off ranges from semi-sheer for some shades (lighter colors) to rich & intense for others (brighter and deeper colors). You can build up the color by layering over an eye shadow base or by using a damp brush.
In terms of texture, they don’t feel as powdery as regular eye shadows and the staying power is a bit lesser. I get about 5 hours or so before I see some fading and creasing. This can be fixed with a good oil-control base underneath. I find these quite easy to blend especially deeper shades like Cocoa Pop and Aqua Pop were very blendable. Petal Pop isn’t difficult to blend but Cream Pop has a slightly less uniform finish than the others. Its not really noticeable unless you’re looking very closely. Being a light color, it doesn’t appear patchy on the skin and adds a nice glow – whether used on the lids or along the cheekbones to highlight.
Overall, I think these are nice eye shadows, particularly for those who like quick, soft washes of colors on the eyes. I particularly like the soft, luminous finish and subtle shimmer that they add to the skin. They are a little firmer and less loose/powdery as compared to regular eye shadows which gives them a smoother feel but the wear time could have been a little better.
Rating : 3.9/5
Cream Pop is a iridescent beige color that adds a beautiful glow to the lids and can double up as a cheek highlighter. The warm color is universally flattering.
Petal Pop is pink-gold duochrome that mostly translates pink on the skin. The finish is pearly but very refined, with no obvious chunks of shimmer.
Aqua Pop is a vibrant warm blue with a soft pearly sheen. Great for a colorful, summer look! You can use this along the lower lash line too for a subtle pop of color.
Cocoa Pop is a coffee brown shade with a satin finish. It works well for a smokey eye, as a transition color and can also be used to fill brows. A very useful staple shade to have in one’s kit!
