5 High-End products worth the splurge!

Hey everyone!

Today I’m sharing a few favorite high-end, luxury makeup items that I feel are worth the big bucks! This is by no means a list of all of my favorite high end beauty items but just a few that I have been loving lately. Do share your luxury beauty favorites in the comments section below!

1. Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation (Rs 3000)

This is my favorite foundation and that is saying something because I’ve tried a ton of them! Its a classic liquid foundation – neither too runny nor too thick which gives medium-high coverage and a flawless natural finish. It makes my skin look amazing every time and it stays put throughout the day without oxidising or turning greasy on my skin. It photographs really well too which is why its perfect for special occasions, especially weddings. Highly recommended! Full review here.

2. YSL Rouge Volupte Shine Lipsticks ($37)

I couldn’t NOT mention the YSL Rouge Volupte lipsticks here. They are simply the prettiest lipsticks around (look at the gorgeous gold packaging!) and the formula is wonderful. The classic range is creamier while the Shine range has a glossier finish and a slightly sheerer formula. It still packs on plenty of pigment and gives a gorgeous, luscious look to the lips. The formula is buttery soft and it hydrates better than any lip balm I’ve used. It also smells like mango which happens to be my favorite fruit! If you like pinks, do check out #17 Rose in Tension. See full review here.

3. Illamasqua Naked Rose Blush (Rs 2200)

Naked Rose by Illamasqua is the perfect everyday pink blush and I’ve been getting a lot of wear out of this lately. The texture is very fine and silky, the color pay off is just right so you don’t go overboard and the color stays really well. The matte finish looks like second skin and doesn’t look dry or powdery. The blush blends with hardly any effort and that is what makes this a stellar product! Full review here.

4. Estee Lauder Sumptuous Extreme Lash Multiplying Mascara (Rs 2300)

This is the most I’ve ever spent on a mascara but I would do it again because this mascara is THAT good! I love that the brush is not humungous but it adds incredible volume, giving almost a false lash effect to the lashes. The formula doesn’t flake off but isn’t difficult to take off at the end of the day. I love dramatic lashes and this is the most dramatic mascara I’ve used. Crazy expensive for a mascara but the results are fabulous! Read full review here.

5. NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer ($44)

This is one of my favorite bases of all time and I rationing mine currently as NARS isn’t available in India. Its a creamy, light-weight tinted moisturizer that gives sheer coverage and yet manages to give a very healthy and beautiful look to the skin. The finish is slightly dewy but I do not mind powdering my T-zone through the day because it makes my skin look fantastic. The shade range is quite good and if you want something that looks like skin while adding light coverage, do check this out! It has broad spectrum sun protection, is oil-free, non-comedogenic and contains a host of skin loving ingredients. Highly recommended! Full review here.

Dear Ankita. I read your detailed review of the Estee lauder stay in place double wear foundation, but I'm confused about the shade which you use. Do you use Tawny or Cashew? I use this foundation, and it my favorite too. I was drawn to it only after reading your review. Thanks a lot.
Please let me know which shade you use!!
    Lots of love.

    • March 18, 2016 / 1:55 pm

Hi Syeda, my perfect shade is a mix of the two. I was using Tawny mostly in the winter thinking that Cashew alone would be dark but now I use Cashew by itself and it works quite well. Because my neck is a little darker than my face, Cashew evens out my face and neck both and gives me the same tone.

Estee Lauder double wear foundation is what I am eyeing on.. I have seen its flawless finish in most of your videos. Undoubtedly, it is expensive but but your tutorials make it look worth the price… definitely going for this foundation.

  7. March 18, 2016 / 2:49 pm

I am really intrigued to try estee lauder foundation after reading your review. But I have been eyeing Channel velvete lumiere from a long time too..Since both of these retail for the same price, which one do you think will fare well on oily skin?

    • March 20, 2016 / 12:56 am

I haven't tried the Chanel one but EL Double wear works very well on oily skin.

  8. March 18, 2016 / 3:14 pm

I have tried plenty of luxury makeup products but ironically I haven’t tried any one from this list. I have been planning on trying out the Estee Lauder foundation considering I love their concealer so much from the Double Wear range!

  9. March 18, 2016 / 3:43 pm

    5. Estee Lauder ANR serum

    • March 20, 2016 / 12:56 am

Hi Ishita, how does the EL ANR Serum work for you? I had a sample of it and it didn't do anything for my skin unfortunately.

      • March 20, 2016 / 12:33 pm

Hey Ankita.. One sample would not help. However the serum is meant for damge repair which it did when my skin was dull and lifeless during the recent breakout I had. 🙁 But it would not be a dramatic fix. when I wake up in th morning, my skin looks refreshed and youthful.
