Today I’d like to share with you a new brand that I recently came across called Island Kiss. This is an Indian brand based in Goa and they’ve just launched 3 variants of organic lip moisturizers. I have been trying out these lovely lip balms since the past few weeks (you might recall seeing one of these in this video) and here’s my verdict.

Island Kiss Organic Lip Moisturizers – Review
Lets talk about packaging first. I love the colorful and cheeky packaging and it reminds me of theBalm and Benefit cosmetics packaging which I’ve always found really fun. The lip balms come in a tube and the design on each reflects the individual flavor. They have a slanted tip applicator so you don’t need to use your fingers and can apply the balm directly onto the lips. Each of these balms contain tropical kokum and mango butter as the base and hence have a very nourishing feel on the lips. The consistency is lot like vaseline (though these are petroleum-free). They also contain beeswax, carrot seed oil, castor oil, vitamin E oil, macadamia nut oil, all of which are organically sourced. In addition to these, each flavor has some organic color and a few essential oil depending on the flavor and tint. They also contain a little Stevia (artificial sweetener) so in case you accidentally lick your lips, you’d notice a mild sweet taste!
As you could tell by the ingredient list, these are very hydrating and softening on the lips. They have plenty of slip since they are oil based completely so if you’re using these under lipstick, I’d recommend using a very tiny amount. In terms of hydration, these are very moisturizing and remind me of the Kiehls #1 lip balm which I’ve always found to be the best when it comes to lip balms. They also contain SPF 15.
Overall, I think these are fantastic! The formula is very nourishing and the flavors are lovely to use. Moreover, these are made in India and the ingredient list is very clean. My personal favorite is Puerto Berry Blush and I would highly recommend that to everyone! There’s a little more about each variant below.
Rating : 4.5/5
The Alma Vanilla & Inges Lavender flavor has a faint vanilla and lavender scent. It has a very mild lavender tint in the tube but on the lips, it looks almost clear. This is a nice one to try if you like clear lip balms and don’t want any tint on the lips.
The Cherry Blossom Flores variant has a gentle cherry blossom scent and a pale pink tint. I really like the flavor but the tint gives a milky look to my lips which I don’t particularly like. So I end up using this one quite rarely but if you have very pale or un-pigmented lips, this might suit you.
The variant that I am absolutely loving is Puerto Berry Blush which has the most gorgeous berry red tint! It smells of berries and citrus which I love and the color shows really well on my lips. You can also dab this on your cheeks for a healthy flush of color. The tint stays about 2-2.5 hours on my lips and when you reapply, the stain intensifies. The formula is just as nourishing as the rest and this color is so pretty and fresh on Indian complexions.
