Olay has recently introduced the Total Effects 7-in-one Lightweight Anti-Ageing Cream which combines all the benefits of the Total Effects range with a light, non-greasy formula. With the warmer season setting in, its the perfect time to switch to a feather weight moisturizer for the day.

Olay Total Effects 7-in-one Lightweight Anti-Ageing Cream – Review

The moisturizer comes in a long cream bottle with a pump dispenser. The packaging is similar to the Total Effects Day Cream in shape – just slimmer and longer. I really like the pump packaging as its convenient and hygienic to use. The moisturizer has a light, whipped cream consistency and it feels light yet hydrating on the skin. It instantly smoothes and moisturizes the skin and leaves the skin feeling comfortable. It softens my skin, takes care of dry patches but doesn’t give a greasy feel or look to the face. I love the mild, fresh scent and a pea sized amount of the moisturizer is sufficient for the whole face. Because it is fast-absorbing and non-comedogenic, it works for oilier skin types as well.

The formula contains Glycerin which works as a humectant and moisturizer. It also contains Niacinamide as one of the chief components which is a very powerful anti-ageing ingredient. I think this is an excellent product for women in their late 20s and early 30s who are looking to introduce an anti-ageing product in their routine. It addresses all the early signs of ageing without overloading the skin. It also contains SPF 15 which provides some UVB protection. I would still recommend that you use a dedicated sunscreen with broad spectrum protection as the Indian summers can be very harsh on the skin.

The Total Effects Day Cream is one of my favorite products from this range and I used up a bottle during autumn-winter last year. I’m really glad that the same benefits are available in a lighter formula now, which is perfect for the spring-summer season!

i have a query related to my facial skin allergy.. due to weather change or may be due to some new skincare product.. red bumps have started appearing on cheeks & they irritate & itch alot… any idea what can i do?? may be u know something after attending La Roche posay bootcamp… 🙂 currently i am using Vichy Thermal water to soothe the itching…

Hi Joo, rashes are different from acne so what works with acne/pimples won't work with these. The best thing is not use too many products on your skin till the rash dies. Whenever I get a rash, I use Cetaphil cleansing lotion to cleanse, plain cool water to wash and any thermal spring water. I've also tried Avene Cicalfate Cream in the past when I had dryness related sensitivity and it helped. Its a very greasy kind of cream but it worked for me in the Tokyo winters. Also try cold pressed Aloe Vera juice (Kama or FE) and ice cubes wrapped in a cloth.

thanks alot for reply.. aloe vera is the savior in the harsh sunny days.. i ll try Avene Cicalfate cream in the next winters because i really want to switch from FE Eternal youth formula as FE is busy in just raising the prices.. every season they increase the prices…

I love the fact that it’s not greasy. I have oily skin Ankita so do you think it is not greasy enough for oily skin in summer?

    • March 5, 2016 / 5:16 pm

Hi Megs, I think its needs to be followed up with a mattifying sunscreen or pressed powder because it doesn't have a matte finish and with very oily skin, you need something mattifying in the summers.

i have exactly same skin type as yours. if this has suited you, m sure it would suit me too. would try it this summers. got too bored of my lakme youth infinity serum.

    Hey Ankita,

Thanks for the review! Being in my early 30s, I was looking for an anti-ageing cream. However, I have one question – you recommend using a dedicated sunscreen. So, while a sunscreen is used when we step out in sun, what’s the best time to use the Olay cream.

FYI, I use the La Shield sunscreen.

    • March 3, 2016 / 8:10 pm

Hi K, you need to use a sunscreen as the last step in your skincare routine after moisturizer (Olay cream or any other that you'd like to use).

Thanks for sharing this Ankita. This light weight moisturizer with all the Olay’s 7 benefits is going to be a great pick for summers.Being non greasy ,it’s going to fit in my existing skincare regimen which is quite nourishing for my otherwise dry skin.

I haven’t tried this product by Olay yet, but I’m really trying to get serious about skincare so I appreciate your review. So cool that they made a lighter formula for the warmer months!

    • March 5, 2016 / 5:17 pm

You should give Olay a try! The Total Effects range would be a good starting point if you're looking to introduce something to target early signs of ageing like dryness etc.

  12. March 4, 2016 / 11:23 am

As it is non greasy it would be a good cream for oily skin like mine.

  13. March 4, 2016 / 2:01 pm

i have tried olay and loved the texture 😀

  14. March 4, 2016 / 2:05 pm

Oh I’m glad the texture is thinner, I have the other one & I could never use it because of the thickness.. btw no rating??

Hi, you don’t need to use it at 16. You can use a simple moisturizer like Clean & Clear which is meant for teenage and young skin.
