Bharat & Dorris have recently launched online at Nykaa.com and I was sent a few products for review. In this post, I’m reviewing their HD powder, a blusher and two eye shadows. Bharat & Dorris is a Mumbai based brand started by makeup artists. They’ve had a store at Infiniti, Malad since a few years and they’ve now started retailing online. I’ve been trying out some of their products and here’s my review –
Bharat & Dorris HD Powder – Review (Rs 700)
This is a translucent loose powder with fine shimmer. The high definition part of this is supposed to be the blurring effect that the shimmer gives. While the powder is finely milled, I find the shimmer a little distracting. The powder does give a nice finishing touch to the skin but wear it only and only if you’re going to be in low lighting like a candle light dinner or something. I’ve found that the shimmer is quite visible in sunlight and in very bright lighting. Its an absolute no-no for still photos with flash as the shimmer flashes back and gives an oily look to the skin.

Bharat & Dorris Powder Blusher 01 – Review (Rs 500)
The powder blush in shade 01 is a beautiful deep rose color with flecks of gold. This is a fantastic blush for parties, weddings and would work well with Indian complexions. The shimmer/color balance is just right so it adds a beautiful, luminous pink color to the cheeks without emphasizing pores. The texture is smooth (though not super silky) and it didn’t pose any difficulty in blending. The color wears for around 5-6 hours on my skin.

Bharat & Dorris Watercolor Eye shadow #210 – Review (Rs 400)
The one thing that I dislike about Bharat & Dorris products is that the packaging seriously lacks information. They do have an ingredient list but there are no directions listed on the packaging. But going by the name of this eye shadow, I figured it might work well when used with a damp brush and it does! 210 is a pink-gold duochrome that reminds me of MAC Expensive Pink. The eye shadow applies really pigmented and smooth in damp state and doesn’t crease for about 6 hours on my eyes (no primer). The color has the right level of shimmer to add a festive touch to any look without overpowering the makeup. Its an excellent shade for weddings and parties.

Bharat & Dorris Matte Eye shadow #115 – Review (Rs 400)
This is the best product that I’ve tried from the brand so far! This matte eye shadow has a silky, smooth texture, great color pay off and blends really well. It doesn’t get uneven or patchy as you blend it and the color intensity is maintained. A matte brown is a must-have in every makeup kit and I think this is a fantastic basic brown for Indian complexions. The eye shadow stays for over 6 hours on my lids after which it begins to crease and fade. The staying power isn’t phenomenal but the color and the silky texture makes this a pretty good product in my book!
