La Roche-Posay Effaclar Purifying Foaming Gel, Effaclar Duo, Thermal Spring Water : Review

Hey everyone!

Today I’m reviewing a couple of products from La Roche-Posay, a French pharmacy skincare brand that has excellent products for sensitive and acne prone skin. I’ll be reviewing the Effaclar Foaming Gel, Effaclar Duo and the Thermal Spring Water from this range.

La Roche-Posay Thermal Spring Water

Rs 490 for 50 ml, Buy online at Nykaa

This is an excellent soothing face mist that contains Thermal Spring Water sourced from the south of France. Thermal Spring Water is enriched with anti-oxidant Selenium which has a calming and softening effect on the skin. Spraying regular water on the skin causes dryness as the water dries but the Thermal Spring Water makes the skin soft and supple without the drying effects. I’ve gone through many bottles of this in the past, especially in the time when I had severe breakouts. Its also great when you have a rash on the skin due to threading and waxing and you don’t want to use any products. Just a soap-free gel wash with this Thermal Spring Water is an excellent remedy for calming the skin. Even if you don’t have problematic skin, using this after washing the face or anytime during the day is an excellent way to refresh and hydrate the skin!

La Roche Posay Effaclar Purifying Foaming Gel

La Roche-Posay Effaclar Purifying Foaming Gel

Rs 425 for 50 ml, Buy online at Nykaa

This is a gel based face wash that lathers mildly with water, cleanses well without drying the skin and leaves the skin feeling refreshed and clean. It contains SLES which is less harmful than SLS but to be on the safe side, I prefer washes that are free from SLES like the Avene Cleanance Gel. Nevertheless, this oil-free, alcohol free wash is great for oily and breakout prone skin as it helps in subduing breakouts while helping remove the excess oil from the skin.

It also contains Zinc and Salicylic acid, both of which are known to work very effectively against acne. I have been getting some breakouts on my chin on and off and using this along with the Effaclar Duo has helped shrink them to a large extent. The wash is paraben-free, comes in a simple squeeze tube packaging and contains the calming Thermal Spa Water from south of France that is rich in Selenium which helps in soothing and softening the skin.

La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo

La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo

Rs 1300 for 40 ml, Buy online at Nykaa

This is a light oil-free treatment for clogged pores, blackheads and acne. It has a very light lotion consistency and sinks in the skin very quickly. It contains 5.5% Micronized Benzoyl Peroxide which is very effective against even deep rooted acne. Apart from its action against breakouts, it also helps exfoliate the skin at a cellular level because of the blend of LHA (lipo hydraoxy acids – glycolic acid and salicylic acid). This results in rough skin getting transformed to smooth, clean, soft skin over time with regular use as the dead skin cells are removed by the micro-exfoliating acid blend. I really like this product because it not only helps in shrinking breakouts but the also helps in refining the texture of the skin. The results are not visible very quickly but in 2 weeks time, you’ll definitely notice a difference if you have light to moderate acne!

You can buy all these products from at 15% discount under the Skincare Week promotions (on till 15th September)! They also has this really cool offer going on where you can get a skin care sample bag containing travel sized samples of skin care on purchases above Rs 2000 (pictured above). Unfortunately, they’ve run out of these bags now but it looks pretty amazing, doesn’t it?

Have you tried La Roche-Posay Skincare?
