MAC Mineralize Moisture SPF 15 Foundation (NC30) Review
They say finding a perfect foundation is like finding that perfect pair of jeans! You never want to part with it. That’s what happened when I discovered this foundation. I have been a cult user of MAC Mineralize Satin Finish SPF15 foundation. But when I went to repurchase it, I was told it has been discontinued and this is the replacement for it. I have been in love ever since! MAC Mineralize Moisture SPF 15 foundation comes in a frosted glass bottle with a built-in pump. I like the new and different shape of the bottle and I personally prefer glass containers over plastic. However, you have to be careful with it while travelling. The pump is ever so helpful in dispensing little amount and keeping it all very hygienic. Consistency is gel-like and a bit runny. Its comparable to the MAC Face and Body foundation. It spreads easily and blends like a dream. I have used fingers, flat brush, real techniques face expert brush as well as sponge to apply this and i find the brushes to be the best option.
It has a satin or dewy finish but does not contain the tiny glitter particles like the Satin Finish Foundation had. So it gives a natural luminescence which makes my skin look very healthy. Its almost weightless and feels like skin upon setting. In fact, after a few hours I forgot I was wearing a foundation. The coverage is light but buildable to medium. It does not completely cover up my blemishes or dark circles and I need a concealer for a full coverage look. But it’s perfect for daily wear. In the pictures, I am wearing MAC Select Moisture Concealer NC35 at inner corners of eyes and corners of mouth.
As the name suggests, its very moisturizing. I did not need to apply a moisturizer underneath. So it works very well for people with dry/combination skin but oily skinned people would probably not like it much (unless you wear a mattifying primer underneath). I got a decent wear-time of 5-6 hours out of this which I think is laudable in this 43°C heat. In winters the wear time increases to 9-10 hours for me. I do have to powder my T-zone after a few hours though.
The SPF in the product is 15. So thats a bonus. However, if you have to be in direct sunlight for long, then MAC recommended using a dedicated sunscreen of SPF 20 or up. The downside to this is the flashback the foundation causes. It does leave a white cast on flash photography. The shade matching for this foundation should be done carefully as it tends to oxidise a little after application. So either use a makeup fixing spray immediately after use or get a shade lighter than your usual one. (I am NC35 in other MAC foundation but in this foundation NC30 works for me perfectly). Its best to have the MUA apply it on you. Just observe how it works for the day and accordingly buy the next day.
Overall, I truly like this product. Its my everyday go-to foundation for a natural glowing look. I would definitely repurchase it!
[note color=”#FFE4C4″]Notes from Corallista : Thanks for the comprehensive review Kriti! The foundation sounds great for dry skin. I might check this out during the winters. I haven’t worn MAC foundations in some time and your post reminded me to start using my Face & Body foundation again!
