Clinique Pop Lip Color + Primer Review

I love Clinique and I love lipsticks, so naturally the Pop Lip launch had me super excited! The range has 16 shades ranging from pinks, plums and nudes to tawnies and reds. I love the modern, square packaging of the lipstick and the colored bottom half of the tube makes it easy to locate shades. The lipstick is a bit smaller than regular sized lipsticks but contains a good 3.9 g of product.

The lipstick has a lovely smooth texture, glides easily on the lips giving rich, opaque color in a single stroke. The formula is unscented and feels really comfortable on the lips. These have a creamy, satin finish and stay that way throughout the wear time. I wasn’t expecting serious hydration but I was surprised by how soft, hydrated and smooth my lips felt even after nearly 6 hours of application. The wear time of this lipstick is seriously amazing! Its not a matte, drying formula nor does it stain (this shade doesn’t, the brighter shades might) and yet it manages to stay on the lips for hours and hours (6-8 hours)! There is slight fading after meals but it doesn’t need a touch up. I am seriously blown away how good this lipstick feels and wears! I think Clinique got it spot on when they said “luxurious yet weightless formula”!

There is however a slight downside – the color seems to settle into lip lines a few hours after wear. Not majorly, but something you might notice if you look close up. It doesn’t bother me much because its not very obvious but I just thought I should mention it. I also wish Clinique Japan didn’t have such atrocious pricing (all the Estee Lauder brands are quite expensive here)!

Overall, I love the super comfortable, rich, opaque, long wearing formula of the Clinique Pop Lip + Primer lipstick and I wish I had picked up another shade from the line. #14 Plum Pop is soft plummy pink shade that is a great everyday shade for my medium complexion. The color doesn’t wash me out and adds a nice wash of pink to the lips that I’m loving this summer! The range has a great lineup of 16 shades so do check out the other shades too if you’re interested in trying out these lipsticks. Recommended!

  5. Wow this is a gorgeous lipstick with long stay. 🙂 I so want it now. Ankita do you know when or if these lipsticks will be launched in India?

    1. Shouldnt be too long I think. I've seen an update on Instagram with Masaba Gupta sporting these lipsticks. I think there is some collaboration with her for makeup bags which she's designed for Clinique India.

  6. This might be my first luxurious lipstick! I fell in love with the packaging. And also I was thinking of buying a foundation from Clinique. I am around NC40 so what would you suggest??

    1. I'm not very familiar with Clinique shades except for the ones I've tried. I'm a little lighter than NC40 though not quite NC37. I had the shade 05 Vanilla from Super Balanced foundation range and it suited me okay though not yellow enough to match NC40. I think you should let the SA help you pick a shade at the counter and check the shade in sunlight to make sure it matches.

  7. I have just one lipstick from clinique. That is no. 28 So Sweet. Its a beautiful plum shade and has very smooth texture. I love it.

  8. Wow thecolor looks great on you !! I guess I have to try these now since I'm a sucker for hydrating lipsticks !! Love your necklace too , can you share where you got it from ?

  9. Nice review, Ankita, and a very cute shade of lipstick. Looks very wearable to me. Oh btw, your necklace is amazing as always 🙂
