The liner comes in a slim, pen form with a firm yet flexible felt tip. I find this tip much easier to work with compared to the paint brush like tip of the HyperSharp liner that Maybelline came out with a couple of years back. The tip is fine enough to do precise and thin lines but doesn’t pose a problem if you want to do a thicker line. The color pay off is really good – it gives a rich, opaque black color (though you might need 2 swipes) and gives you the clean, precise look of a liquid liner.

The formula dries quickly and has a soft satin finish – neither matte nor glossy. The formula is not waterproof and can break down to some extent if you have very oily or sweaty lids. I find that when I have some eye shadow on the lids (or just compact powder to mattify the lids), this wears quite well but without anything on the lids, it tends to transfer a little to the socket line. I find this problem with majority of liners, even gel liners, so I don’t hold this against this liner. But you definitely need to prep your lids if you are going to be wearing this in the summer and you have oily lids like mine. It comes off with a makeup remover, doesn’t wash off completely with water so its best placed in the water resistant category. On the upside, it doesn’t flake off or crumble during the day, even if you rub your eyes a bit and doesn’t bleed in the inner corner if your eyes get a bit teary.

Overall, I quite like it and the felt tip makes it very convenient and hassle-free to use. I’ve never been a huge fan of brush type liquid liners (prefer the easier to use pencil or gel liners) and felt liners are great to achieve the precise, clean look of a liquid liner with more control and ease. I’ve tried the felt tip liners from Colorbar and two different ones from L’Oreal (reviews HERE and HERE) and to be honest – they all worked well for me. But Maybelline is more reasonably priced compared to similar products from Lakme, Revlon, Colorbar and L’Oreal too so if I had to repurchase, I’d probably go with this. I also think this color is richer and darker than the other ones I’ve tried. So if you’re on the hunt for a new liquid liner – do give this a try!

I’ve used this quite a bit in my recent tutorials, you can see it in action in my Orange Shimmer Video Tutorial (around 4:50 mark).

Hi Ankita can you please suggest me the skintone shade of inglot concealer i must use. Im having oily skin and Im NC 42 in MAC.
    Thanks in advance.

Hi, I'm not 100% sure but I think MW101 should suit you. Maybe you could visit the store and see if the shade matches you. It depends more on your under eye area state than what shade you are for the rest of the face. I'm not very familiar with Inglot base make shades, just making an educated guess here! Do keep in mind that you have to set it with powder if you're buying the concealer refills because the formula is very creamy and would make the skin greasy if not set with powder.

Very, very well written review. Would surely try this. Great job ankita.

  15. April 6, 2015 / 11:44 pm

i love the cleanliness of felt tip liners, wish this was waterproof and jet black like gel liners!

  16. April 7, 2015 / 2:54 am

Interesting one!! I have Maybelline’s Hyper Sharp Liner and this looks like a perfect successor. I love the dark black shade it gives, just sad that it is not water proof. These felt tip liners are real time saver and makes pretty winged liner with ease.

  17. April 7, 2015 / 3:02 am

I have their Hyper gel liner and love it! This looks interesting, but may not go for it as its not waterproof.

I have this one too but not so happy with it. I have oily lids and no matter how well I set it, it just HAS TO smudge within a few hours. The hypersharp was way better.

Hello ankita.. I wanted to ask you a good serum for oily skin that could be used at night.. And I am 19 yrs old.. I have a lil bit of acne scars and lil pigmentation around the mouth.. So please suggest a serum which would suit my skin and help in brightening my skin.. And the loreal luminize one which you have mentioned in your video is now discontinued may be as it was not available in all the loreal counters..

Hi, I want to buy a good kajal pencil which would atleast stay for 5-6 hrs. Could you pls suggest a good kajal pencil. Also planning to buy a liquid eyeliner. Which brand shd i go for liquid eyeliner which stays on for a long time? I have also heard about gel eyeliner. Which is good liquid or gel eyeliner? Thanks

    • April 5, 2016 / 6:32 pm

Hi Leoni, Gel liners are quite long lasting. I would suggest the Maybelline one. I've been using it for a long time. Among higher end brands, Bobbi Brown and MAC gel liners are great as well. For kajal, try the Plum NaturStudio Kajal or Colorbar Just Smoky Kajal. Both are long lasting. And Lakme Absolute Ultimate Kohl is a good option too.
