Today I am reviewing the Lakme Eyeconic Kajal in Green which you might recall from my Green Smoky Eyes Tutorial. Lakme Eyeconic is the only kajal I’ve repurchased and I was quite excited when they came out with colored variants some time last year. I’ve also used the Brown version but I think the Green one is much closer to the original black formula.

Lakme Eyeconic Green Kajal Review
The kajal comes in a twist up mechanical pencil – I love the fact that I don’t have to sharpen it and lose product in the process. The texture of the kajal is creamy and soft, you might end up with a broken tip if you twist up too much and use too much pressure during application. The color pay off is great – its not too waxy, doesn’t slip and slide when you apply it and gives rich, intense color in a single swipe. The kajal is not 100% smudge proof though it does set a little after application. It can be smudged right after application if you want to do a smoky look. It stays quite well on my water line – about 5-6 hours with barely any fading but since I don’t wear a lot of kajal as such, I use this mostly on the lid (smudged with some green eye shadow) or just as liner along the upper lash line. If the lids are mattified with some compact powder or eye shadow, this doesn’t transfer to the socket and wears just as any other smudge proof liner.
I love the color – its a rich, deep green which has the depth and darkness of a kajal and yet enough color to distinguish it from black. Forest Green and Jade is the most common color when it comes to colored pencils but this bluish, rich green is different and looks lovely on brown eyes. I saw this on my cousin when I visited India and it looked fantastic as a liner on her light brown eyes! The color is not too bright and is appropriate for work wear too.
Overall, this has everything I like in an eye pencil – the texture is soft and creamy, gives rich color without tugging and pulling and has reasonably good staying power! The affordable price tag and lovely color make this a must-have! You can see it in action in my Green Smoky Eyes Video.
