I always buy my NYX products from cherryculture.com sales and they always have these great 40% off sales at least twice a year! The spring sale is on from 3rd March to 8th March 2015 (use coupon code MMM2015 during checkout to avail the discount). Their shipping charges aren’t the cheapest (they ship worldwide) but with the discount code, you get a good bit of discount so the shipping charges don’t hurt as much!
I love, LOVE NYX products, its definitely one of the best budget beauty brands out there. I have loads of products from the brand and here are my top recommendations –
1. NYX Blushes ($6.00)
Their powder and cream blushes are fantastic though I prefer their powder blushes because of my oilier skin type. The blushes have a silky texture, blend well and come in a variety of finishes and pigmentation. Here are my top recommendations for blushes – Pinched (warm coral with gold sheen), Silky Rose (deep matte rose, review here), Amber (dusty rose), Spice (brownish pink, review here), Mocha (warm medium pink) . Two great shades that are as contour shades for medium to dark skin – Stone and Cocoa (Swatches here).
There are so many other awesome shades but these are the ones I love the most and they suit Indian skin tones beautifully. If you want some softer sheerer colors – try Espresso, Summer Peach and Rose Garden.
If you like cream blushes, NYX Cream Blushes Tea Rose and Natural are perfect for everyday wear. Glow is great for a pop of pink!
2. NYX Slim Lip Liners ($3.50)
Shades Peekaboo Neutral and Natural are a must-have for me! These are great nude colors that work with just so many lipsticks. I also have some other shades – Pinky (bright pink), Ever (orange), Deep Red (dark red) and Cabaret (wine red) that work great with similar lipstick shades.
3. NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams ($6.00)
These are fantastic liquid lipsticks that dry down to a matte finish and stay on the lips for ages! There are a ton of gorgeous shades to pick from but my favorites are Cannes (dusty peach), Prague (soft berry pink) and Copenhagen (deep burgundy red). Highly recommend these if you like matte lipsticks.
4. NYX Lip Glosses
Round Lip glosses ($3.00) : Peach, Strawberry and Apricot are beautiful sheer colors that are perfect for everyday wear. True Red is a beautiful creamy red that is surprisingly pigmented!
Megashine Glosses ($5.50) :
These are a little more pigmented than the round lip glosses and feel great on the lips. Shades I like – Natural (nude) and Tea Rose (soft rose pink). Beige is also a nice everyday pink shade though may not show well on deeper skin tones.
Butter Glosses ($5.00) : These are really smooth and hydrating and feel a lot like the MAC Cremesheens to me. My favorite shades – Peach Cobbler (bright orangey coral), Angel Food Cake (pinky nude) and Raspberry Tart (purple tinged berry). See review here.
5. NYX Lipsticks
Round Lipsticks ($4.00) : These are really inexpensive, have a lovely smooth, creamy texture and come in a ton of shades! Its been a while since I tried these but I have loved the shades Heredes (dusty peach), Femme (bright coral), B52 (plummy dusty rose) and Snow White (Deep dark red) in the past. These aren’t the best of lipsticks – the formula is prone to creasing and bleeding at times because they are very creamy but great if you want to try some new colors.
Matte Lipsticks ($6.00) : I have only tried the shade Bloody Mary (deep cool toned red) from this range and its lovely! The formula is creamy matte, crazy pigmented and really comfortable to wear. I want to try more of these!
Black Label Lipsticks ($7.50) : They are really creamy and smooth too and have a better formula than the round lipsticks – stay well without bleeding or feathering and feel quite hydrating. I have only tried the shade Midnight Dinner (warm berry pink) which is lovely! The stocks on this one are very limited on cherryculture at the moment though.
6. NYX Jumbo Eye Pencils ($4.50)
These were one of the first eye shadow crayons on the block and basic shades like Black Bean (black) and Milk (white) are great staples. These are creamy and very pigmented but don’t dry down completely so best used as a base for eye shadows. Some other neutral colors I like – Yogurt and French Fries.
7. NYX Eyebrow Gel ($7.00)
Eyebrows have become a huge point of discussion in the beauty world in recent times and if you’ve wanted to try a brow gel (I’ve always been intrigued by brow gels and pomades) the NYX offering is wonderfully good and inexpensive! These are pretty pigmented though so be cautious or you’ll end up with really heavy looking brows. I think these would be great for budding makeup artists!
I have not had much luck with their eye shadows and pigments though – they generally need some base/primer to show up well and stay on the eyes. But if you don’t mind the extra step, the colors variety is excellent! I have the Pearl Mania pigment in Oro which is a beautiful bronzy gold shade (worn below) but needs a primer to stay on the lids.
Hope this little compilation was helpful! I’ve already placed my order to try out some of the warmer blush colors, new butter lipsticks and some other products. I’ll post my haul once my package arrives. Happy Shopping everyone!!
p.s – Happy Choti Holi to all those celebrating Holi! I’m missing India today!
