If you’ve been a long time follower of my blog, you would hardly recall any “makeup routine” posts! I only get into a routine when I’m traveling because I carry limited products. On other days when I’m home, I tend to change up my look and products often. I have to say, there is something comforting about having a makeup routine, I get ready much quicker and I don’t have to think too much about what look I’m going for.
My current makeup routine is more or less composed of the products mentioned in this post. I go for a luminous base with a hint of bronzed pink on the cheeks, brown/plum liner on the eyes (with kohl on some days) and a rose pink lip.
Shiseido Sheer and Perfect Foundation
Absolutely LOVE this foundation! Sheer, lightweight, doesn’t ever look cakey and evens out the skin really well. Stays long without making the skin dry. One of my favorite products of 2014! I use the shade O60.
Lakme Absolute Face Stylist Concealer
Medium coverage, lightweight, easily blendable, moisturizing but non greasy and stays well. Love the natural finish, perfect for everyday wear! I’m scraping the sides of the tube, need to repurchase this. I use the shade Honey.
MAC Select Sheer Pressed Powder
Sheer, natural, perfect for setting foundation and concealer. Not great at oil control but since I’m in a really cold place right now, my skin doesn’t need much oil control/blotting.
Clinique Chubby Stick for the cheeks – Roly Poly Rosy
Pretty rose pink color – smooth texture, easy to use (just dab and blend) and satiny finish. Adds a lot of freshness to my face. I was using this for the first couple of days of my trip though now I’ve switched to the Wet n Wild blush mentioned below.
Wet n Wild Color Icon Blush – Pearlescent Pink
Pretty warm pink with a bit of soft gold shimmer. Very pigmented, smooth in texture, blends easily and really affordable! The color has been compared to NARS Orgasm, I think its more pink and less gold – more flattering for deeper complexions. Love it!
Physicians Formula Bronze Booster – Medium/Dark
When I spotted Physicians Formula products in the pharmacy here in the US, I just could not resist this particular bronzer. The pattern and packaging was just too pretty to pass up! I’ve been using this everyday, it gives the loveliest warm glow to the skin without looking metallic or overly shimmery. Unfortunately, the strong bronze color is only an over spray and underneath is a more satiny bronzer.
Stila Smudge Stick – Umber
This is an eye shadow crayon which can double up as liner as well. I absolute love this – its soft in texture, really pigmented, waterproof and smudgeproof and a great multi tasker. I wear this in the day as liner and smudge it as shadow in the evenings for an instant smoky eye. Umber is a beautiful plummy brown, I’m wearing it along my top lash line in this look.
Bourjois Khol n Contour Pencil – Ultra Black
I find the Bourjois kohls very comparable to MAC Smolder. They are very soft, creamy, super pigmented and can be easily smudged for a smoky look. They wear a little better than Smolder on me and I don’t get raccoon eyes with this. I had planned to pack the Colorbar Just Smoky Kajal for the trip but packed this instead. Its not smudge proof (not good for top lash line) but it fares well on my waterlines.
Rimmel Scandal Eyes Eye Liner – Brown
My makeup kit is never complete without a brown liner and on this trip, I packed this Rimmel one. I’ve been wearing this on the days I don’t use the Stile Smudge stick. The formula is creamy and pigmented though on oily lids, it might transfer a bit to the socket line. Powdering the area before application should solve the issue. I like the slight bronze tone in the color.
Maxfactor Brow pencil
One of my oldest brow products, still love it! Its great when you don’t want to bother with brow powders, gels etc. and much quicker for daily wear. I use the brush on the cap to comb my brows and then fill in the arches lightly.
Coastal Scents Revealed 2 Palette
Most days I don’t wear eye shadow but when I do fancy a little more elaborate look, I reach for the Revealed 2 palette. Even though I did bring 2 other palettes with me, I just find the colors in Revealed 2 more flattering on myself.
Bourjois Volume Clubbing Mascara
A fabulous volumizing mascara that is very waterproof as well! Probably not the best pick for daily wear but I like my lashes big and bold so I’m not complaining. If you apply it well and carefully do 2-3 coats, it almost gives a false lash effect! Love that it doesn’t clump and doesn’t give spidery lashes either.
Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm – Sultry
Great earthy rose color for medium to deep complexions. I’ve been using this color a LOT lately though I don’t love the matte finish in the winters so I top this with a sheer lipstick from Bourjois. Highly recommend this! (Wearing it in this post).
Revlon Colorburst Lipstick – Soft Rose
An old favorite that never fails me. Beautiful soft rose color, smooth texture, feels much more comfortable and hydrating than the Matte Balm and doesn’t leave the lips feeling dry.
YSL Rouge Volupte Shine Lipstick – Rose in Tension
A slight deeper rose/soft berry color with a soft, glossy finish. The formula is soo good, softens and hydrates the lips deeply and doesn’t wear off too quickly too. I love this lipstick and it feels fabulous in the winters!
Bourjois Shine Edition Lipstick – Mauve Tabloid
Very wearable sheer plummy pink with faint shimmer. Great color for daily wear – just adds a touch of color with shine and moisture. I wear this by itself or top it over a matte lipstick like the Revon Matte Balm.
