I’ve received some queries regarding High End foundations for Dry Skin recently and I thought of doing a post on it! While I don’t have dry skin myself, I have tried some of the foundations I mention in this post for times when my skin gets on the combination side. Here are my recommendations for High End foundations for Dry Skin. Please feel free to add your own in the comments below!
1. MAC Face and Body Foundation (Rs 2000, USD $27 )
This is a very runny, sheer foundation that is a big hit with makeup artists and consumers as well! It glides very easily on the skin due to its very liquid texture, doesn’t cling to dry patches and has a dewy finish that would work great with dry skin. It makes the skin look natural and glowing! You can layer it to build the coverage. The best thing though is that it dries down to a transfer proof finish (it is designed to be used on the body as well so won’t stain clothes) and wears quite well! Available in India. Reviewed HERE.
2. YSL Le Teint Touche Eclat Foundation (Rs 3600, USD $57)
This is one of the best products from YSL’s makeup range! This is a light weight foundation that gives light to medium coverage and a beautiful radiant finish. Makes the skin look healthy and natural with a soft glow. I have tried a sample of this and while I loved the illuminating finish, it was a little rich for my oily skin. I think it would work better for normal to dry skin. Available in India.
3. Clinique Super Balanced Foundation (Rs 2000, USD $23)
The Superbalanced foundation is great for people with combination or dry skin. It has a runny liquid texture, gives about medium coverage and a beautiful dewy finish. I love this for days when I want my skin to look healthy and dewy. It has a lovely radiant finish and is great for people with sensitive skin as well. Available in India. Reviewed HERE.
4. Chanel Vitalumiere Foundation (USD $45-$58)
Chanel’s Vitalumiere range of foundations containing Vitalumiere, Vitalumiere Aqua and Vitalumiere Cream is great for people with dry skin. This rich moisture infusing formula hydrates the skin and you can pick the texture that works best for you. Vitalumiere Aqua is the lightest one with a thin formula that gives a beautiful natural finish to the skin. It is a very popular foundation with makeup artists (like Lisa Eldridge) and consumers alike. Available in India.
5. MAC Mineralize Moisture Foundation (Rs 2250, USD $32)
MAC Mineralize Moisture foundation is great for dry skinned women as it has a light reflecting, natural satin finish and a hydrating formula (it contains Shea Butter and Vitamin E). This is great for everyday wear – it has sheer to medium coverage, doesn’t cling to dry spots, contains SPF 15 and is supposed to stay 8+ hours. Also good for those who are beginning to see fine lines as it helps blur out imperfections. Available in India.
6. NARS Sheer Glow Foundation (USD $45)
This is the best selling foundation from NARS that is designed for normal to dry skin. Its has sheer buildable coverage combined with a natural satin finish that makes it excellent for a natural, real-skin look. Would recommend you moisturize well before application as it blends best on well hydrated skin with no dry patches. It doesn’t contains SPF so its great for photography as well. This is quite popular with a lot of Youtube Gurus. Not available in India.
7. Guerlain Parure de Lumiere Foundation (USD $61)
Guerlain’s Parure de Lumiere is a moisture infusing foundation with a buildable medium coverage a lovely light reflecting finish. I personally have this and love using it when I’m taking pictures because it makes my skin radiant with a beautiful glow! It contains light reflecting particles that are responsible for the glow. While it looks great in person and non-flash photos, I wouldn’t recommend this for flash photography as the light reflecting particles might make your skin look a little oily (or that may be the case because I have oily skin. Dry skinned ladies may not have this issue). The texture feels luxurious but not heavy on the skin and its really easy to blend. Available in India. Worn HERE.
8. Make Up For Ever Face and Body Foundation (USD $40)
This is similar to the MAC Face and Body Foundation – light runny texture, water based formula, sheer buildable coverage and long stay, non-staining color. It adds the same dewiness to the skin that MAC F & B does and its great for using on the body as well! Available in India.
9. Bobbi Brown Moisture Rich Foundation (Rs 3000, USD $48)
Bobbi Brown is known for her amazing foundations! She was the first one to offer yellow toned foundations in the market and Indian women would find a very good shade match with Bobbi Brown foundations. The Moisture Rich foundation is designed for dry and/or aging skin and gives medium coverage with a natural satin finish. I’ve heard many dry skinned ladies rave about this foundation! Available in India.
10. Shiseido Sheer and Perfect Foundation (Rs 2800, USD $35)
This is one of my favorite foundations and I think it would work just as well with dry skinned ladies. It has a runny, thin texture that feels weight less and natural on the skin. But despite its sheerness it gives a perfected, flawless look to the skin on account of the optical powders that it contains (color correction). If you have very dry skin, moisturize well before application and it will work perfectly! The coverage is light to medium but because of the color correction properties, it diminishes the look of pigmentation, spots etc. really well and makes the skin look naturally flawless! Available in India. Review HERE.
