Today I am sharing another Khoobsurat Moment from my life – my Sangeet ceremony look. While I stuck to a traditional red and gold palette for the actual wedding, my sangeet oufit was quite colorful. I wore a bright lime yellow saree with a blue, green and gold border that really stood out and looked great in pictures as well! I don’t wear a lot of yellow and this is a few memorable times that I’ve worn the color!
I used the colors of the contrast border of my saree (which I bought from Jashn in Mumbai) for my accessories – green, blue and gold peacock earrings and bangles. I absolutely love those earrings! For the hair and makeup, I got my hair colored few days prior to the event and also got a trim and hair spa done. This gave my hair a nice rich color and all I had to do the final day was blow dry them to get a sleek look.
For coloring my hair, I went with a dark warm brown. Since I was going to be wearing a lot of warm colors during the wedding festivities (yellow, red, warm pink), this hair color went fabulously with the outfits, jewelry and makeup! I’d recommend the L’Oreal Paris Casting Creme Gloss in shades Dark Chocolate and Chocolate for brides-to-be! Plum is another great shade that adds a beautiful burgundy brown tint to the hair. I used it recently to color my hair, you can read all about it HERE. You can also check out Get the Look to find out about the latest trends and hairstyles.
For the makeup, I used a bronze eye shadow with lots of liner and kohl to define the eyes. I used a pop of fuchsia on the lips that tied the whole look together. You all know how much I love bright lips and bronze eyes and I think my makeup looked quite nice! (But unfortunately the photographer was using some very harsh portable lights which made my foundation flash a bit in some pictures).
There are times when I love wearing darker colors but I loved the cheery yellow, rich blue/green and hot pink colors in my look on that day. Indian weddings are vibrant and colorful and that’s how I feel looking back! It was the first time a lot of my family members and relatives had seen me in a saree and all dressed up and I got loads of compliments! I truly felt like a bride and while all the attention can be a bit overwhelming, who doesn’t like being complimented 😉 It was a memorable #KhoobsuratMoment for me!
