Today I’m reviewing a beautiful product from Guerlain- the Les Voilettes Translucent Loose Powder Mattifying Veil which will be launching soon in India.
Price : $57 for 20 g | launching soon in India
Shade : Medium | Available in 3 shades – Light, Medium, Intense
What Guerlain says about the Les Voilettes Translucent Loose Powder :
Les Voilettes translucent loose powder mattifying veil by Guerlain is designed to give your complexion a beautiful, natural finish. The lightweight formula features a revolutionary blend of absorbing powders and pearls to expertly correct makeup and dress your skin in a light, matte veil.
How to use: Use the powder puff to apply the powder by dabbing all over your face beginning in the T-zone. To even the skin and create a translucent veil, use a brush instead and sweep it gently all over your face.
My take on the product
The Guerlain Les Voilettes loose powder comes in a beautiful reflective gold tub packaging with a screw on lid and a powder puff inside for application. It looks beautiful on the dresser but was so difficult to photograph! I love the look of the velvet puff but it is essentially useless when it comes to application. But it does function as a stopper and keeps the powder contained below the sifter thereby reducing the mess that generally accompanies loose powders. The powder itself is very silky and extremely finely milled. It blends into the skin effortlessly giving a smoother appearance and taking away shine instantly. It doesn’t cake up on the skin even if you over apply and it doesn’t give a dry matte look to the skin. The finish is very soft and natural as it applies almost translucent. What I love most about it though is how it reduces the look of pores and gives a softer, smoother look to the skin.
I wore this on one side of my face with the Clinique Blended face powder on the other side and the Guerlain side looked smoother. Both delivered the same oil control though – about 3.5 hours after which a bit of shine appeared on my inner cheeks and nose. It is a beautiful powder and it does deliver everything one would want from a setting powder – sets liquid/cream products in place, blends into the skin without looking dry or cakey, takes away oiliness and shine and gives a smooth natural matte finish to the skin. The one and only thing that I don’t love about this is the violet scent. All Guerlain products are heavily scented with their signature Violet scent and I’m not a huge fan of the scent.
The product is luxury indulgence for sure, this will set you back $57 (to be launched soon in India, price to be announced) for only 20 g of product. But it is the best powder I’ve used and I do recommend it to those who don’t mind splurging a little. If you want a more pocket friendly option, you can check out the Clinique Blended Face Powder which retails for Rs in India and $ in the US.
