My take on the Product

L’Oreal has been killing it with their new lip launches this year and the Moist Mat lipstick is no exception! This gorgeous lipstick is housed in a golden tube, with a colored button to show the shade color. I love the sleek yet rich packaging of these lipsticks – they look so much more modern than their Color Riche lipsticks. The bullet is slightly curved to hug the natural shape of the lips perfectly. I love everything about how this lipstick looks!

The texture and formula of this lipstick is spelled out in the product name itself – Moist Mat (matte). It is incredibly smooth and soft without being overly creamy or crumbly, the color pay off is great and it gives a soft satin finish to the lips. The formula is quite forgiving on the lips – doesn’t emphasize lines, doesn’t cling to dry bits and doesn’t suck the moisture from the lips. It doesn’t get tacky on the lips after a while, the formula stays comfortable throughout its wear time. The formula feels quite thin on the lips so despite the rich color, you don’t feel like you’ve got an intense lipstick on.

I have the shade Flaming Kiss which is an intense orange based red that adds so much life to my face. Being an rich bold shade, it wears quite well. I get about 5-6 hours of wear with a bit of fading with meals. It does leave behind a light stain but nothing that is difficult to take off.  I haven’t had feathering/bleeding issues with this color. I think these might be one of the most comfortable matte/satin lipsticks I’ve tried- these are non-drying, even mildly moisturizing I could say!

Overall, I can’t think of anything  that I dislike about the Moist Mat lipsticks! The formula, the shades, the packaging- everything feels worth the price tag! I actually grabbed a few more shades during the Nykaa sale so you will be seeing more of these here in the future 🙂 If you like bold shades, here are some gorgeous shades from the range – Flaming Kiss, Glamor Fuchsia, Lincoln Rose (supposedly Aishwarya Rai’s Cannes red lipstick), Raspberry Syrup and Blaze of Red. There are some softer shades in the range as well like Cherry Crush and Maple Mocha.

Rating : 5/5

    Nice review Ankita.
But I am not satisfied with this range. I have Orange Power and maple mocha. my orange power had broken in the tube and when I tried to take it with a brush, it comes as little small parts. and also too much powder finish. here is no photo sending options. otherwise I would send you its photographs. So I am little fears to use maple mocha also.

    Hi Ankita,

I need to pick a red lipstick.. i am confused between ruby woo and ones from loreal falming kiss and lincoln rose. I am a NC 4. please suggest

Hi Manali, what's your skin tone?

      • manali
        September 20, 2014 / 2:55 pm

I am a NC 4 in MAC skin tone medium

        • September 26, 2014 / 5:23 pm

Hi Manali, MAC foundations are generally NC or NW followed by a 2 digit number. Unless you're talking about Face and Body Foundation which has shade N and C followed by a single digit number. C4 is a popular medium tone shade for Indian women. I'd suggest Ruby Woo – it suits everyone though the texture can be a touch dry. If you want a slightly warmer red, try Flaming Kiss, its really nice!
