My Envy Box : April 2014 Edition

Hey everyone!

I received the April Edition of My Envy Box today and I’m very excited to share the first makeup addition to the box by Benefit! Also in this month’s box are 2 brands new to the Indian market – Za (from the House of Shiseido) and SkinYoga (a 100% natural skin care brand). I really like this month’s pink box, such a lovely change from the white/coral box in the past!

The Benefit POREfessional Pro Balm (pore minimizing primer) sample comes in a Marvel Custom Edition comic book ‘SpyGal’ which is so quirky! Benefit products are just so much fun! I have fairly large pores so I’m quite excited to try this. The product sample however is really tiny, I don’t think I’ll get more than a single use out of it.

[note color=”#FFE4C4″]This month’s box is quite interesting with new brands like Za and SkinYoga being included. But once again I’m not completely thrilled with the sample sizes except for the SkinYoga Body Scrub. I think the February Box was quite good in terms of quantity as well as variety. This box is chiefly face products and I like boxes with a little more diversity.

I’ll be doing a mini-review of all the products in a about a week or so once I’ve tried all the products! What do you think of this month’s box? Share your comments below. [/note]

  1. I Got the Za True White Day Cream with my Fabbag this month! Fabbag is improving.

I Think for rs 850, these samples are way too tiny to justify the price

    1. I have tried Velvette (now rebranded as Fab Bag) in the past and they are a little inconsistent with the product quality. Sometimes the send out full sized of poor quality products from unknown brands and sometimes they send decent travel sized from mid-to-high range brands. My Envy Box is consistent with the brands they include – only premium brands but the sample sizes are very small sometimes.

  2. Hi,
I am just a beginner in makeup and have picked up interest very lately. I have started reading almost all the posts in your blog offlate and find it very useful. I am particularly interested in this post because of the porefessional product and look forward for ur review of the same asap. Also can u recommend few products to minimise the size of my facial pores. Thanks and great job! Do keep it up!!..:)

    1. Hi Gayathrie, keeping the skin clean goes a long way in keeping the pores minimized. Deep cleansing scrubs and masks are great – use them at least twice a week but be gentle with your skin. Use a clay based mask as it draws out the impurities from the pores. I've also found the Vichy Normaderm Night Chrono-Action Anti-Imperfection Care helpful with pores and acne marks.

  3. Za, Avene and the Benefit samples are the only ones in common in our Envy Boxes. Apart from those, I received a 5 gm bottle of Almond Scrub by Skin Yoga and a 60 ml body wash by H20+. This is my second Envy Box, and frankly I’m disappointed. While the brands may be great, the samples need to be of a certain minimum size to be called “value for money” or to be even be used enough to get a decent use out of them, which wasn’t the case for me. I calculated the amount these samples would add up to (even though most of them are “FREE” samples) and they total up to a measly Rs.630 or so, which makes me think where did the rest of my money go? Then I see international beauty boxes like Birchbox and Glossybox, and get even more disheartened. Definitely cancelling my subscription from now on.

    1. Hey Ipsita, I agree about the sample sizes. With certain boxes (like the Feb one), I quite liked the sizes but more often then not, the sizes are quite small. The 2-3 ml skin care samples hardly give me 3-4 uses.
