My Shopping experience with Sephora.com!

Hey everyone!

A few weeks back I discovered that sephora.com had now started shipping to a few other countries besides the US including Japan (others being UK and South Korea). I was really excited and placed my order on April 7th. It was shipped on April 9th and I received it on the 11th! I am quite elated with the whole experience even though I paid a pretty penny for shipping + taxes but considering the price of makeup in Japan, it actually turned out cheaper than buying makeup here. I also got to try brands which I’ve wanted to try for a while but couldn’t get access to. Check out my haul below –

Even though the whole shopping experience was really quick and convenient, I wish the shipping was a little lower. I paid a total of JPY 1500 + 738 (Rs 1320) for shipping + taxes/duties. What I did like though was that it came via DHL and I could track it every step of the way right to the point where it was sent out for delivery.

Coming to the products themselves, I was a little surprised when I saw the color of the Tarte Blush. I had seen Flush on countless blogs and it was a really unique dark berry plum color. But Tarte seem to have reformulated it to a light plum rose color. I checked on the Tarte website and it shows this lighter color for this shade. I’m sure it’ll still look nice when worn but I was really excited for the previous version of Flush, I didn’t have anything remotely like it in my stash.

I have only tried the Benefit kit so far from my haul and I love Cha Cha Tint – it looks absolutely stunning on the cheeks! I’ve used the Clinique Superprimer before in a sample and really liked it, wanted it for a long time. As for the blush, I wanted these since they launched in Japan but they are priced at JPY 3150 and I’m glad I didn’t pick one here! I wanted Ginger Pop but it was sold out so I went for Peach Pop instead. This is the first time I’m trying out something from Too Faced and I thought a small kit would be a great place to start!

Love the haul! I’m really interested in the Cheek Pops. They seem to have more of a satiny/hybrid creamy texture.

Now if only they’d add India to that International shipping list! πŸ™‚

Thanks. I think Sephora.com has only started shipping to countries which don't have an actually sephora store – like Japan, UK and South Korea. I do hope Sephora India starts a domestic online site!

I have tried a blush from Too Faced and really liked it. But then I only wear blush twice a year (for somebody’s wedding :P) so am I the right person to express opinion?
Nevertheless, it lasted decently enough on me (with my oily skin that too) and almost survived a few tissue dabs I did to absorb oil off my face.
BTW I must say you’re very pretty πŸ™‚

    • Corallista
      April 18, 2014 / 4:12 pm

Thanks πŸ™‚ What shade do you have in the Too Faced blush? Just curious! Too faced has really nice eye shadows and palettes as well, give that a try if you get a chance!

  26. April 16, 2014 / 7:43 pm

Very nice haul i love it!!, but i’am little suprised that you didn’t buy the “Fine One One” – Benefit cosmetics in sephora. You should really try it… it is very good. !!

      April 18, 2014 / 4:13 pm

Thanks! I had read some not-so-good reviews for that especially for oilier skin types so I skipped it!

  30. April 18, 2014 / 10:09 am

I just loved your haul….. But Ankita is there so much differenc ein prices between Sephora Japan and Sephora online……???? I am in Singapore and I havent given it a thought like that… But after reading this I need to check… :d …. Thanks for this post….

    • Corallista
      April 18, 2014 / 4:15 pm

Hey Aayushi, there is no sephora in Japan, just brand makeup counters in departmental stores or standalone stores. Certain brands are very pricey here – like the entire Estee Lauder umbrella – MAC, Clinique etc. and Maybelline and L'Oreal too! I have been to Sephora Singapore and it was pricier than Sephora USA!

      • April 19, 2014 / 9:17 am

Thanks Ankita for the info….. πŸ™‚

Oh that is a nice haul! I have the Clinique primer and I actually like it A LOT! I’ve wanted to try TFSI for a long time as well πŸ™‚ So sorry to hear about the price of makeup in Japan! I thought Europe is really bad as it is!

    • Corallista
      April 20, 2014 / 5:27 pm

I've wanted that Clinique primer forever! I'm so glad I got it! I've heard beauty products are quite pricey in Europe : North America has the best pricing!
