My take on the product

The Shiseido Sheer and Perfect Foundation comes in a sleek, plastic bottle which doesn’t spell luxury but is practical, sturdy and easy to carry around. The foundation has a runny, watery texture but once applied on the skin, it dries down quickly to a satin finish on blending. It feels very light weight and looks natural on the skin, like you’re wearing no makeup. As the name suggests, its sheer – you get sheer coverage if you use fingers but you can use a brush or layer it to build up the coverage. At best it goes medium coverage and doesn’t look cakey on layering. Its really easy to blend and is quite forgiving on dry patches as well compared to most other foundations.

I love how it makes my skin look fresh, glowy and yet works great on oily skin. Once set well with a powder after application, it stays fresh for a good 5+ hours without any need for touch ups. Overall, I find this quite long wearing on my skin – apart from the occasional blotting on the T-zone, it doesn’t need much maintenance and doesn’t break down with the oils of my skin.

The formula contains reflective powders that help in cancelling out uneven skin tone giving the look of more perfect skin. I love the concept of a sheer light weight texture combined with optical powders instead of a heavy masking foundation. I have some pigmentation and redness on  my skin which is evened out fairly well with this foundation. I only need a concealer for under eyes and the occasional blemish when I use this foundation. I’ve also noticed that my pores looks less prominent which I use this foundation.

Overall, I think it is a brilliant foundation that I can see myself wearing throughout the year. The light weight texture + skin perfecting optical powders is a combination that makes it very versatile – you can wear it in the day time as well as the evening.  It photographs well with and without flash (despite being SPF 15). I also see it working for all skin types as well. The only people I wouldn’t recommend this to are those with a lot of pigmentation/spots as this won’t give adequate coverage.

Availability : It is available in 8 shades in India. I wear O60 which is a touch darker and more yellow than my complexion but it adapts well. Prefix O stands for Ochre tones and I for Ivory in Shiseido foundations. Available in 18 shades worldwide.

Drugstore dupes : In a way in reminds me the Bourjois Happy Light foundation which has the same concept of light weight texture combined with optical reflective powder for perfecting the skin. But between these 2, I prefer Shiseido – I like its runny texture and it looks nicer on my skin + has better wear time on my combination/oily skin.

Seems very similar to Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua in terms of packaging and texture. It’s good that it photographs well though it has spf.

MAC Matchmaster gives better coverage so for day to day I'd go for Shiseido sheer and perfect and for a special occasion I'd probably go for Matchmaster.

I like to wear sheer foundation/ compact/ BB or CC cream and was looking for something like this for a long time! I tried a dozen other brands and don't know why I never tried shiseido before coz I already love their lipsticks a lot!! I think your shade will match me perfectly!
Will be going to Macy's soon to try this!

        Hi there!
Just wanted to update you about my foundation search 🙂
I did try Bourjois cc cream shade 33 and shiseido sheer and perfect foundation but both didn't work for me! Cc cream shade was light and the shiseido counter girl couldn't match me perfectly :-/ I then tried Laura mercier tinted moisturizer and used it a couple of times and the n realized that I don't really like to put liquid makeup!
I happen to stop by at Bobbi brown counter and the girl matched me perfectly and I'm loving the stick foundation.. It's super easy and gives me the sheer coverage I like 🙂
Really happy with the results it looks v natural!! Yipeee

        • March 8, 2015 / 11:07 am

Thats great! Which shade did she match you with? I was matched with Honey in Bobbi Brown once but it was a little dark for my face and made me look a little dull. The Stick foundation is quite popular!

          • Desimom101
            March 8, 2015 / 7:25 pm

Yeah they too matched me with honey 🙂 the shade lighter to that looked kinda white on me and honey disappeared on my face.
I also got the corrector and concealer in matching shade of stick foundation but need more practice to apply the corrector and concealer, as it moves very easily 😬. I may return the corrector and concealer if it doesn't work. Th shade is perfect and my under eye are invisible but my hubby says he likes me with my under eye as I look natural😳!

Hiii ankita as per your review I went and bought this shisedo sheer and perfect foundation. As our complexion is same o60 would have been the exact shade for me….but the lady at the counter said o40 would be a perfect match for me. So I bought o40. But after coming home I realised its one shade light for me and o60 only would have been a perfect match. Its more than 5months I have bought that foundation but m not using it because its one shade light. Since its an expensive foundation I don't wanna waste it but use it…..can u please suggest if I can use it mixing with any other foundation if any????? Awaiting your reply

I have been using burjois healthy mix foundation shade 57 for the last two years, and was very disappointed that they stopped selling it in stores in India. Have been looking for a replacement foundation ever since, something that would givr me a dewy finish and a natural look, And i guess this is it. 🙂 Thanks for reviewing 😀
