Today I’m reviewing the Bourjois Color Edition Cream to Powder eye shadow in 05 Prune Nocturne which is a beautiful smokey plum color!
What Bourjois says about the product :
A new generation cream-to-powder formula is the newest member of the Bourjois’ Eyeshadow family! Fine and silky, this soft cream colour turns into powder upon the contact with the skin leaving you with a luxurious, second-skin feel. In just one sweep Colour Edition gives a metallic sheen and intense colour that last 24 hours.
My take on the Product
The eye shadow comes in a simple pot packaging which is easy and convenient to use. The texture is smooth and it feels very velvety to touch. It transforms to a powder finish once you apply in on the skin and hence feels much easier to blend than a traditional cream eye shadow. The color pay off is good but you can easily build it up or sheer it down if you like. The powder finish makes it easy to tailor the pigmentation. I had very high expectations when I first used this by itself and I was very disappointed as it began creasing within an hour of application. This is not a product you can use alone and expect decent wear time. It either needs to be topped with a powder eye shadow or used over a primer/creamy base. But when layered it does give stellar wear time of over 8 hours with hardly any creasing or fading. Overall, I’m not too happy with the fact that it needs another product to wear well but if you do that extra step, it does wear beautifully!
Prune Nocturne is a brownie plum color that flatter a wide range of skin tones. The color strikes a perfect balance with cool plum and warm chocolate and I love pairing this with eye shadows from both color families. It reminds me of Maybelline Color Tattoo Pomegranate Punk but this is browner and darker. It contains fine pinkish pearl that transforms into a sheen on the lids – very wearable.
