Whenever I think NARS, I think of the blushes the brand has become so well known for! NARS was the first counter I was headed for when I went beauty shopping in Japan. I first checked out the cult favorites – Orgasm and Super Orgasm but both weren’t very flattering for my medium skin tone (less color, more shimmer). My eyes then landed on this gorgeous golden apricot blush – Torrid!

My take on the Product
NARS blushes come in a sleek black flip open packaging with a rubberized outer finish. While I like how compact it is, the packaging is a magnet for fingerprints, dust and such and tends to get grubby looking in no time – not something you want your high end makeup to look like! I ardently wish NARS would change the packaging of their products or include a velvet sleeve with the packaging to protect it and keep it clean.
Everything about Torrid is absolutely amazing – from the smooth buttery texture to the intense pigmentation to the stunning color! The texture is quite silky without being loose or powdery and I totally get why NARS is the ‘ultimate authority in blush’! It melts into the skin with a few strokes of the brush, blending seamlessly. Like most NARS blushes, a tiny amount goes a long way so a light hand is recommended during application to avoid getting too much color on. The staying power is excellent, an easy 7-8 hours with minimal fading and no patchiness.
Torrid is a beautiful apricot/coral shade with subtle gold micro shimmer. The shimmer is really fine and very well done, you can hardly see it on the skin (I’ve included a close up swatch shot below) except for soft glow it imparts. The color warms up my face, adds a soft radiance and a healthy glow – I’m completely floored by how flattering this blush is on medium to dark skin tones. I find nude lips easier to carry when I have Torrid to my cheeks. But it pairs just as well with bolder warm lip colors as well! I think this is to darker skin what Orgasm is to paler skin tones. (FYI – It was awarded Best Blush for Olive skin by Instyle). I highly HIGHLY recommend this blush!
Rating : 4.75/5 (-0.25 for the packaging)
