Today on the Budget Monday feature, I have a great lip pencil to show you – Lakme 9-to-5 Lip Liner in Brick Rose. Lakme recently revamped their entire 9-to-5 lip range, launching an excellent range of matte lipsticks (in gorgeous shades) along with 6 lip liners. I loved the lipsticks! And the lip liners, even more so!

My take on the Product
Taking after the rose gold packaging of the lipsticks, the lip liners come in slim rose gold wooden pencil with a dipped end showing the shade. The texture is superb – creamy and smooth with excellent color pay off and an easy glide on the lips. They are soft but not crumbly and sharpen with ease. They give full coverage (great for pigmented lips) and are quite long lasting. I’ve almost always found lip liners to be drying until I tried this one!
I always use lip liners to not just line but fill in the lips fully – as a base for the lipstick. So very drying formulas don’t go down well unless topped with something very hydrating. The Lakme lip liners have a satin matte finish but they don’t give a parched, dry look to the lips. They look nice enough to be worn as lip colors themselves though I like adding a touch of gloss to the center of my lipstick. You can wear this under your lipstick to extend the wear time or wear it by itself – either way it gives solid wear (I get about 5 hours). There is absolutely nothing I don’t like about these! Its an amazing formula and Lakme should definitely add a few more shades to the existing 6.
Brick Rose is a great neutral for medium to dusky complexions – a peachy brown that looks very natural and doesn’t wash me out. Its similar to L’Oreal Color Riche lip liner in Toffee (Rs 600). Its my current go-to warm nude lip and I love wearing this with a natural sheer gloss like the Revlon Super Lustrous lip gloss – Raisin Glaze (as seen in this post). Its also a great base for sheer coral, orange, caramel colored glosses that may not otherwise show well on pigmented lips. I used it in one of my Bridal Videos (HERE). I highly recommend this shade to everyone!
