What L’Oreal says about the Shine Caresse Lip colors :
The next generation lip colour, that combines the texture & shine of a gloss with the long wear of a stain. Delivering a lasting colour with a subtle glossy shine. The unique formula comprised of 30% water and 60% oil provides an exceptionally high level of moisture, allowing for 6hr hydration. Concentrated soluble colour pigments create a subtle wet look with a weightless feeling on lips.
My take on the Product
The L’Oreal Paris Shine Caresse lip color comes in a beautiful gold packaging with a transparent band that allows the color to peek through. The small tube comes with a slanted heart shaped applicator inside which hugs the lips perfectly. It is exactly like the YSL glossy stain applicator though I find the outer packaging of L’Oreal prettier than its pricier YSL twin.
The texture of this lip color is a cross between a watery lip stain and a traditional lip gloss. Its watery, light weight and very hydrating on the lips. It gives a subtle wet shine to the lips and feels very ‘thin’ on the lips. But despite that, it imparts a good dose of color to the lips. Because its a lip stain, the color deepens a bit after application as it interacts with the body heat and chemistry. It might feel rather sheer at first but a minute or so after application, you see more pigment. The lip color gives exceptional long wear for a product that feels so sheer and glossy – Bella wears about 5 hours generally on me while maintaining the fresh, healthy shine and leaves behind a soft pink stain. During it wears, it stays as non-sticky and weight less as if freshly applied. It also is quite resistant to transfer to cups/glasses etc. Overall, I absolutely LOVE the packaging and formula of the Shine Caresse lip colors. I feel its one of the absolute best lip products I’ve ever tried!
The only downside I can think of is how they would work on heavily pigmented lips. Because its not a very opaque product, it won’t cover up pigmented lips completely. So the very light or nude shades from this range won’t look as flattering on very pigmented lips. But the medium to dark shades should be okay. I’m not a big fan of the scent as well. Its mild but not very pleasant if you sniff the tube closely.
Bella is a gorgeous peachy rose shade that gives a very fresh, healthy and natural color to my lips. I have been wearing it nearly everyday since I bought it and it just brightens up my face in a very subtle fashion. No matter how I wear it – without any makeup, with just liner, with a smokey eye – it looks great every time! Highly recommended shade from this range!
It might seem lighter in the swatch but the color deepens and stains after applying on the lips.
The GOOD about L’Oreal Paris Shine Caresse Lip Color :
- Gorgeous packaging
- Light weight, watery consistency
- Non-sticky and hydrating
- Barely transfer
- Long wearing
- Give a subtle wet shine to the lips
- Great price!
The NOT-SO-GOOD about L’Oreal Paris Shine Caresse Lip Color :
- Lighter shades may not show that well on pigmented lips
- Has a mild medicinal scent
The L’Oreal Paris Shine Caresse Lip Color is one of the best lip products I’ve ever worn! The lip stain-gloss hybrid feels light weight, very hydrating and non-sticky on the lips. It gives a subtle wet shine with a good dose of color – the overall look is fresh and healthy looking lips. Bella is a gorgeous peachy rose that’ll make a great everyday wear lip color for many complexions. As L’Oreal puts it, its a new generation lip color! (I only wish L’Oreal India had launched more shades!) Highly recommended!
