Tutorial Thursday : Smokey Gunmetal Eyes

Hey everyone!

Thanks for the great comments on my last FOTD.Β As promised, here’s the tutorial for the eye makeup I wore in that look. Its a pretty simple smokey eye using a gunmetal grey eye shadow – a look that is a favorite on the red carpet! Hope you find the tutorial useful ~

  4. A beige/champagne highlighter (MAC Ricepaper)

  6. Concealer (Clinique Even Better Concealer- Honeycomb)
  7. Mascara (L’Oreal Paris False Lash Telescopic)

Step 1 : Start with a clean moisturized eye. You can use a primer or base if you like.

Step 2 : Line your eyes with black kohl as shown.

Step 3 : Smudge and soften the edges of the kohl applied in previous step. Take care to not oversmudge as this will weaken the intensity of the black.

Step 4 : Apply the grey eye shadow all over the lid and along lower lash line as shown. Leave the inner corner and tear duct bare.

Step 5 : Blend the grey in the crease using a matte brown eye shadow close to your skin tone.

Step 6 : Highlight inner corner and browbone with the highlight shade.

Step 7 : Add some more kohl along the outer half of the upper lash line and lower lash line. Soften it with a pencil brush using very gentle pressure.

Step 8 : Clean up excess eye shadow/fall out and conceal the under eye area. You can go back in with a pencil brush to smoke out the lower lash line after concealer application. The key to a smokey eye is to avoid any harsh lines and edges.

Step 9 : Finish by curling lashes and applying 2 coats of mascara. Reapply kohl along the waterline if required.

Fill in your brows and we’re done! Pair this look with a peachy nude blush and lip color or a nude pink (if that matches your skin tone better!).

See what I used for the rest of the face HERE.
