Today I’m reviewing a much hyped lip product- the Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquer which launched in India last month! I had my eyes on a few shades but could only get my hands on Celestial.
Price : Rs 475 for 5.5 ml
What Rimmel says about the Apocalips Lip Lacquer :
It’s the End of Colour as you know it!
The intense rich colour of a lipstick, enhanced by a satin smooth shine.
It’s neither a lipstick nor a gloss… It’s BIGGER than both!
LONG LIVE THE COLOUR!
My take on the Product
The Rimmel Apocalips Lip lacquer comes in a thick black tube with the shaded bottom. The shaded bottom end makes it easy to identify colors if you own more than one of these. The curved sponge tip applicator hugs the lips perfectly and makes it very easy to apply the product on the lips.
The texture of this lip product is unlike anything I’ve tried the before – the closest would be NYX lip cream texture. Its non-sticky, creamy but not very wet and has a powdery-ness to it. Its super pigmented and applies opaque in a single swipe. There might be slight patchiness since its a light shade but it can be evened out by patting the applicator in the desired area. It feels very light weight on the lips and has a slight satiny sheen. Its a long wearing product but it doesn’t make my lips too dry. It settles into a matte finish about an hour or so after application and the color stays put for 4-5 hours on me with a bit of fading. However, its not transfer-proof and does transfer to glasses/cups. What I like is that it doesn’t settle into lip lines or bleed or suck the moisture from the lips. For the most part, it feels very light weight and comfortable and only after about 5 hours I feel some dryness but that is natural. But if you have very dry or chapped lips, make sure to buff/moisturize your lips before application. These aren’t very drying but they are not hydrating either!
Overall, there’s much to love about the Rimmel Apocalips Lip lacquers – super saturated color, creamy texture, satiny but not dry formula and color that stays put! I can’t wait to get my hands on more shades from this range!
Celestial is a dusty pink- one of the more wearable shades from the range though its not the most natural color on my complexion. You need a little makeup on the face to balance out the color otherwise its looks slightly pastel-ish and unflattering on a bare face. For duskier beauties, I recommend wearing this with a heavier eye – its looks more balanced that way. It pairs beautiful with plum and purple eye makeup.

The GOOD about Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquer Celestial :
- Good packaging
- Curved tip applicator
- Soft cream texture
- Non-sticky, very light weight
- Very pigmented
- Long wearing
- Comfortable to wear
- Good shade range
The NOT-SO-GOOD about Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquer Celestial :
- Lighter shades can get slightly patchy during application
- Not hydrating – not recommended on dry lips
Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquer is one of the best lip products I’ve tried. With its creamy, light weight texture, intense color pay off and long wearing satin finish – these are a MUST-TRY! Celestial is a beautiful dusty pink that’ll make a lovely pink for fair complexions and a good match with heavier eye makeup for duskier skin. If you like satin/matte, intensely pigmented lip products – do give these a try!
