Sample Reviews : Guerlain Parure de Lumiere Foundation, Clinique Superprimer (Universal)

Continuing with Sample reviews series, I have 2 lovely products to review today – Guerlain Parure de Lumiere Foundation and Clinique Universal Superprimer!

I’ve only worn this thrice but I’ve loved it in every application! Its essentially a hydrating, luminous foundation that gives a beautiful, flawless glow to the skin. The coverage is moderate and very natural and the finish isn’t matte but not very dewy either. Its not the best formula for oilier skin but I’ve found that it works fairly well with a primer underneath. The only drawback is that it has very fine shimmer which gives it the luminosity which looks amazing otherwise but not in flash pictures (gives a slightly greasy look). But in person, it makes the skin look absolutely beautiful! I’ve found that shade no. 03 matches me perfectly. I’ve worn this foundation HERE.

Price : Rs 3500- 4000 (not sure of the exact price)

The Clinique Superprimers have recently launched in India in many variants and I tried samples of the universal one and the anti-dullness variant. I loved the  Universal one because it was not only hydrating and balancing but helped in controlling the shine on my T-zone as well. Winters is a tricky time for my skin because it gets dehydrated but the T-zone continues to be oily and this one did an excellent job of balancing it out. It prolonged the wear of my foundation and gave a smoother look to my skin as well. I wanted to include this in my bridal kit but it was sold out when I went to pick it up!  🙁

If you want a primer that does it all – this is the one to pick!

Price : Rs 1710

About Sample Reviews series : With beauty boxes and free samples with purchase on counters, I end up with quite a few sample sized products and I thought it’ll be useful to review them here as I end up talking about them anyway on Instagram or Twitter.  Since I’ll only get few uses out of a sample size, these reviews will be shorter and less comprehensive than my regular reviews. I’ll be typically reviewing 2-3 products together. Hope you find this new feature helpful!

Hi Ankita, I have tried the Guerlain Parure foundation and it is worth it. I have dry skin and this doesn’t tug to my dry flaky patches. I accidentally used it without putting on a moisturizer before and it still looked beautiful. For the price, it is INR 3400 – got this from Sephora, Delhi.

Thanks the sample reviews are a great add on, quick to read.

    xx

I was hoping the Guerlain foundation would be more matte. Looks like I’ll be getting the Giorgio Armani foundation instead.

Guerlain has some of the best packaged products! I had my eye on their Meteorites powder but thanks to your review, I have added the foundation to my wishlist as well!
I have not used either of these. Infact I only own a Clinique lipstick but my sister-in-law (who has oily-sensitive skin) swears by their skin care and makeup line.

    hi Ankita,

Can you help with something? planning to build a good bridal kit. Now there’s clarins beauty flash balm and then there’s clinique superprimer universal.

I understand both act as my base before i apply the foundation. Which one would you suggest i go with and Do correct me if i’m wrong in my assumptions.

Extremely urgent. would be glad to get your response.
my skin type – oily, acne prone, complexion – dusky if thats reqd.

There is Clarins instant light complexion perfector too. Again i assume used as a base before foundation. Please do share your views on which would be best of the three ! So confused!

Its a brightener so you can use it just along the tops of the cheekbones or maybe add a little of it in your liquid foundation to get an all over even glow. Since you have oily skin, I would not recommend using it as a base all over under foundation.

Hi, I recommend the Clinique Super primer. It will make your makeup last much much longer, works well for oily skin. Clarins Beauty Flash Balm is better suited for dry skin. But you can use it as a face mask to brighten and tighten the skin right before applying your makeup. Apply a layer, let it dry for 10-15 minutes and then wash it off.
