Sample Reviews : Avene Cleanance Mask, Clinique Moisture Surge CC Cream

Hey everyone!

I’m introducing a new feature where I’ll be doing quick reviews of sample/travel sized products. With beauty boxes and free samples with purchase on counters, I end with quite a few sample sized products and I thought it’ll be useful to review them here as I end up talking about them anyway on Instagram or Twitter.  Since I’ll only get few uses out of a sample size, these reviews will be shorter and less comprehensive than my regular reviews. I’ll be typically reviewing 2-3 products together. Hope you find this new feature helpful!

In the first edition, I have 2 products for you – Avene Cleanance mask which I received in the November Edition of My Envy Box (See box HERE) and Clinique Moisture Surge CC cream!

I’ve been using this since the past few days as part of my night routine (once in 2-3 days). I’ve used it 3 times till now and I think I still have at least 3 uses left in my 10 ml tube. I was a little skeptical as its meant for oily skin and my skin is a little dehydrated at the moment but I loved it from the first use itself. Its a white mask containing exfoliating granules, I apply a very thin layer all over my face (except around the eyes) and let it sit for about 10 minutes. It dries very quickly since I use a thin layer and leaves my skin clean, bright and refreshed once rinsed off. It doesn’t dry out the skin and helps in getting rid of small zits etc. I haven’t had any major blemishes so I don’t know if it’ll help with those.  But what I love about this the most is that every time I use this, my serum/night cream etc. seem to absorb better and I wake up with beautiful skin in the morning! I think this is a great deep cleansing mask for just any skin type . This is something I’d want to purchase full size!

I got a sample of this in a small jar from the Clinique counter and I’ve used it about 4 times so far. What I like about is that its quite pigmented and a tiny amount goes a long way. It gives about sheer to medium coverage and a very glowing finish – perfect for everyday. But this is not something I would recommend for hot/humid weather because its rich in texture and makes the skin greasy under those conditions. I think it’ll be good for winters or for people with dry/dehydrated skin. Since I’m moving to a colder, drier climate, I would have loved to take this along but the shade I was given (Medium) is too pink for me and that is something I found in the entire range – there are 5 shades that have launched in India and most lack yellow/olive undertones. Shade Medium gives a greyish cast to my skin which seems to settle down after few hours but after the first hour of application, the color looks very off on my skin.

Overall – Nice formula for dry/dehydrated skin with beautiful dewy finish. Has SPF 30 too. Go ahead if you find the right shade!

Price : Rs 2000

Thanks for the review.Yesterday only I got the Clinique Moisture Surge CC Cream. It looked great when I tried at the counter. But the lights sometimes can be quite misleading. I hope it does not look greyish on my skin too.
