Today I’m reviewing a beautiful red lipstick from Lakme’s Limited Edition Absolute Royal collection – Lakme Absolute Creme Lipstick Runway Red.
Price : Rs 600
My take on the Product
The Lakme Absolute Creme lipsticks have a similar packaging as the Absolute matte lipsticks – just a little fancier! The tube feels a little heavier and has a more shiny, metallic finish. The texture of the lipstick is quite soft and creamy, it glides easily without any tugging and isn’t soft to the point of being crumbly – just the perfect smooth glide. Runway Red is one of the star shades of the range – a very pigmented deep brick red shade that’ll suit Indian complexions quite well. I’m not generally into warm reds as I like blue based reds more but I like how this looks on me. I love wearing this as a stain more though because it looks more natural and brightens up my complexion. The lipstick has a lovely vanilla + caramel scent, I say caramel because it reminds me a little of the Nivea Caramel Lip butter scent!
Because the color is really saturated, the staying power is really good. It stains and stays on for an easy 5-6 hours on me. The finish is on the creamier side though it settles into a matte finish few hours after application. While the texture, pigmentation, staying power are quite good, it does have a drawback – its not really hydrating. It also just seems to sit on my lips and I don’t like that. I don’t use this directly from the tube (unless I have a layer of balm on), I use my fingers for a stain and a brush to build up the color. Because this way, the color build up looks more natural. You would also want to use a lip liner with this or some concealer around the lip line as there may be slight bleeding.
Overall, I like the lipstick quite a lot and I think this is a very versatile red for Indian complexions. Its not too dark nor too bright – just a beautiful warm balanced red with a bit of depth. I was just experimenting a little for my wedding makeup few days back and this shade mixed with MAC Ruby Woo gave me a gorgeous deep red that wasn’t too cool or too warm – loved it! So it is going into my bridal kit for sure and I’d recommend it to brides-to-be. I just wish the formula was a little more hydrating!
Another issue I have with this is that the Absolute Royal collection doesn’t seem to have launched everywhere in entirety and is not available online as far as I know.

Overall, I like the lipstick quite a lot and I think this is a very versatile and flattering red for Indian complexions. Its not too dark nor too bright – just a beautiful warm balanced red with a bit of depth. It is going into my bridal kit for sure and I’d recommend it to brides-to-be. The texture is soft and creamy, pigmentation is great and so is the staying power. I just wish the formula was a little more hydrating!
