Today I’m reviewing a beautiful new foundation that launches at Bourjois counters this November – the Bourjois Happy Light foundation.
Price : Rs 1485 for 30 ml

My Take on the Product
The Bourjois Happy Light foundation comes in a simple and convenient pump dispenser packaging. The texture is really easy to work with – its not thick, its not runny either. It feels quite non-greasy and really light weight on the skin. It blends easily and sinks in completely. The finish is very skin-like, nearly matte but not dry. It gives light to medium (buildable) coverage and really smoothens out imperfections giving a flawless and poreless look to the skin. I think the silicones are responsible for that (as well as its good performance on oily skin). I like that its not a very pigmented foundation. You don’t end up with a cakey face with a foundation that’s not very pigmented. I need about 2 pumps to do my entire face and neck. With fingers, it gives a Tinted moisturizer type coverage but with a foundation brush, it gives medium coverage.
The glow is very natural and beautiful – the kind that’ll get you compliments on your skin and not on the makeup you’re wearing! It contains translucent pigments that are responsible for the boost of freshness and glow it gives to the skin (which I prefer any day over shimmer particles in a foundation). Do note that if you have pigmentation that requires moderate to heavy coverage, you need a concealer for that because this just evens out skin tone and covers up uneven-ness but not spots and under eye shadows.
It claims 8 hours hydration. I don’t have dehydrated skin but when I’ve worn this over the entire day, my skin looks and feels fresh by the end of the day so it probably does hydrate well. Otherwise foundations can sometimes make the skin a little stretchy and patchy after a day’s wear. But if you have dry patches, you would need a good moisturizer underneath because the texture is not very dewy.
Because its not very heavy coverage, it looks very natural and weight less on the skin. It doesn’t wear off with sweat but does break down a bit with the natural oils of the skin. My skin is normal right now with an oily T-zone and I required blotting/touch up on the oily areas after 3-4 hours of wear. But apart from that it wore decently well. It did not oxidize on my skin over the course of the 12-13 hours I’ve been wearing it. 50% of the foundation generally faded after 12 hours of wear but my skin still looked fairly fresh.
I wear shade #52 Light Beige and it suits my complexion perfectly. For your reference, I wear MAC Matchmaster #3, Face and Body C4 and Clinique Superbalanced #5.
I wore it in my Two-toned lip Look. Wearing concealer under the eyes and on some spots along the jaw line ~
The GOOD about Bourjois Happy Light Foundation :
- Convenient, pump dispenser packaging
- Texture is easy to work with
- Blends easily, sinks into the skin
- Very natural, glowing finish
- Looks like great skin, not makeup
- Smoothens out uneven texture – gives a flawless look
- Wears well even on oily skin
- Doesn’t make the skin dry or greasy – perfectly balanced texture
- Photographs well
The NOT-SO-GOOD about Bourjois Happy Light Foundation :
- Coverage is moderate at best
- Contains silicones – (not an issue for me but take note in case you are sensitive)
Overall, I really liked this foundation because it gave a very glowing, beautiful finish to my skin while evening out uneven tone and texture. It doesn’t give heavy duty coverage but unless you have really problematic skin, you don’t need that all over the face anyway. It looked great in pictures and wore quite well on my normal to oily skin over the course of the day. I also like the mild floral scent it has (similar to other Bourjois foundations). Its pricey but I feel its worth it. I was a sent the product for review but if I’d tried out a sample of this, I would have bought it!
Unless you have really troublesome/spotty skin that needs a lot of coverage, I’d highly recommend this foundation! This definitely makes it to my favorite foundations list!
