My take on the Product

The liner comes in a one-way twist up mechanical pencil form. Its fairly standard and easy to use. Just need to be careful to twist up only a tiny bit at a time as it doesn’t retract. The black plastic packaging is quite sturdy and doesn’t feel flimsy. The cap contains a colored band to indicate the shade of the liner.

The texture of this liner is quite creamy, it glides almost like a gel and the tip can break if you twist up too much or push too hard. Because of the smooth texture, it glides easily on the eyes with no tugging. Pigmentation is great, you can get true color in a single swipe. After about a minute of application, the product sets into a velvety matte finish. It then stays intact without smudging or flaking off the entire day, till its taken off with an eye makeup remover. The wear is absolutely flawless, it doesn’t transfer to my socket line and doesn’t fade. Since its a smudge-proof, gel type texture, I don’t recommend it for the waterline for those with sensitive eyes. But I’ve used it on my eyes (in my brown smokey eye video) and I didn’t experience any irritation. On my waterline, it wore well for about 6-7 hours after which it faded.

I love the color – its a strong matte brown – not overly warm, a great alternative to black when you want to define your eyes without the harshness of black. Its also great for women with light hair/eye color as black can look too stark on lighter skin. I love wearing this in the day time instead of black liner. I think its a great pick for office wear as well as the color is softer than black and the formula is long wearing!

The only drawback I see is that its really creamy and the quantity is ~ 0.3 g so I don’t expect it to last me very long!

The GOOD about Lakme Absolute Forever Silk Eye liner :

  1. Convenient, twist up packaging (no wastage due to sharpening here)
  2. Smooth, creamy gel-like texture
  3. Intensely pigmented
  4. Long wearing
  5. Smudge proof, waterproof
  6. Great staple color
  7. Did not irritate my eyes
  8. Safe for contact lens wearers

The NOT-SO-GOOD about Lakme Absolute Forever Silk Eye liner :

  1. Only 0.28 g of product – may not last very long

Overall Verdict

Lakme Absolute Forever Silk Eye liner is an excellent long wearing liner – its super smooth, very creamy, intensely pigmented and doesn’t budge once it sets. I love the basic dark brown shade – its great for lining as well for a quick smudged brown smokey eye. I think every girl needs a good brown liner and I’d highly recommend this! Be careful to not twist up too much because it doesn’t retract!

Rating : 4.5/5

  1. Hi Ankita!!

I just love brown liners and always prefer over black.

You look lovely in both black and brown or any other color.

Since this is new collection, is it available online???

  2. Very nice post. I had Gypsy green from this range. As you told it got over very soon! I loved it though it had breakage due to it’s creamy texture.

  3. I have the black liner in this(Blacklast I think it’s called). It stays put forever and is so creamy, but at the end of the day its an absolute pain to remove!

Brown liner keeps the entire look so subtle!

  4. Hi Ankita..your eyes are beautiful :)..nice daily wear color it it..could you please let me know what kind of eye highlighter are you wearing here?? it looks awesome 🙂

  5. I feel its too expensive for the quantity, I use it on the waterline and it stays only for 2-3 hours after which I reapply and it hardly last me 2 weeks. I used to love lakme’s first 9-5 eyeliner but this pencil (n its predecessor) made me turn away from lakme liners

  6. Looks nice, could you compare it with the L’oreal 24H Superliner? I have the l’oreal one, and not sure I need another brown for a while.

    1. The L’Oreal one isn’t as pigmented I feel and it needs to be layered. ALso you can use it for a quick smokey look – liquids don’t work that! If you just use brown on the upper lash line, you can stick to your loreal one.
