If you recall, TIGI has given my hair a fabulous makeover during Lakme Fashion Week few weeks back. While the first look was a simple sleek do, the second one was a little more glamorous and fancy! I would have never thought of this on my own, it was Ritu’s (the stylist) idea! Here’s a breakdown of the look and the products that Ritu used to create this hair do ~
Red Carpet Hair with TIGI – Step-by-Step
~ My hair was unwashed and already had the styling products that were used 2 days back for the sleek blowout. So Ritu didn’t add more prepping product instead just blow dried my hair to make it ready for the curling. Now this was a revelation to me! Ritu said that before you proceed with straightening or curling, always do a quick blow dry otherwise the straight hair/curls don’t hold up very well.
Prep : If you’re starting out with freshly washed hair with no styling product already, use the TIGI Bed Head Spoil Me Spray to smoothen the hair and reduce the frizz. After that, use the TIGI Bed Head Superstar Queen for a Day Spray to add some volume because we want to create thick, dense curls with a lot of volume in this look.
~ NEXT, may hair was divided into sections and Ritu used a straightening iron to curl my hair section by section. She looped the chosen section of my hair around one of the iron plates and then just moved the iron along the length of my hair slowly. Unlike straightening, curling requires a little more skill. You could curl the sections outwards (away from the face) for more volume or inwards to frame your face better. Ritu used a mix of outward and inward curls achieve a more natural look.
~ Now you can add some TIGI Bed Head Masterpiece Shine spray to the curls – it’ll give some hold to the curls while adding shine to the hair. Ritu then used TIGI Bed Head Sugar Dust which is a powder product that adds volume and texture to the hair. She just used it along the bottom half of the curls. To add some volume to my roots (which were slightly greasy at this point because I hadn’t washed my hair!), she used the TIGI Rockaholic Dirty Secret Dry Shampoo spray on the roots and used her finger to distribute the product.
~ At this point, I had very tight, rigid looking curls. To give it a more lived-in, bed head kind of look, Ritu used a blow dryer on low heat and used her fingers to tease and open up the curls.
~ You could leave the hair like this for a more casual look but if you want to make it a little more formal and glam, sweep your hair to one side and use some pins to secure the hair to one side from the back and sides.
As the last step, use some TIGI Masterpiece Massive Shine Spray as a finishing product to add a little hold and shine to the final look. And you’re done!
This is the final look ~
