Today I’m reviewing the newly launched Bourjois Shine Edition Lipstick -25 Mauve Tabloid. I had shown a preview of this with another shade from the range - Rouge Making of .
Price : Rs 955 for 3 g
What Bourjois says about the Product :
A new generation formula that brings shine, colour and comfort to your lips. An ultra-shine result, thanks to a new ¼ gloss extract for amazing shine-wrapped colour. The new sensuous formula gives ultimate comfort. Enriched with nourishing mango butter extracts, Shine Edition leaves lips moisturised for up to 10 hrs.
Its rich and melting formula provides cushion comfort and makes application addictive! And the icing on the cake…It’s shiny, coloured packaging makes Shine Edition lipstick a true fashion accessory.
My take on the Product
The new Bourjois Shine Edition lipstick comes in a beautiful packaging – shiny, mirror like reflective tube with colored bottom (so that you can locate colors easily) and colored lettering adorning the shiny surface. A little note from the Bourjois PR tells me that the color of the plastic suggests which nail paint you should pair this lipstick with! That way no. 25 Mauve Tabloid should be paired with a minty blue nail paint!
The texture of this lipstick is quite aptly described by the brand – its a rich, melting formula that gives a cushiony gel-like feel to the lips. It has medium pigmentation – so it doesn’t mask the lips completely but is enough to even out pigmented lips. I love the soft glossy finish and the translucence of the formula – it feels very much like a lip butter but with a nicer, wetter texture. You can see its not overly shiny, it has just the right amount of shine to give a healthy, full look to the lips. I was expecting very low wear time but I was surprised that it wore for about 4 hours on my lips with light snacking in between. The formula is quite moisturizing – it softens the lips and gives a smoother appearance because of the finish. But the 10 hour moisturization claim is a bit of an overstretch!
I love buttery, jelly like formulae in lipsticks and I do love this formula. I do not love the price though. The formula is excellent but you’re definitely paying for the packaging here too. Bourjois has never been a budget brand but this price pinches a bit. I was sent a sample to try but if I were to buy this, I would definitely read a few reviews before splurging.
I would recommend these to women who like this kind of formula – sheer but with enough pigment, moisturizing & comforting and for those who do not mind touching up after meals etc. And if you love pretty packaging that would draw a second glance when you whip if out of bag for a touch up!
(25) Mauve Tabloid is a sheer plum color with quite a bit of pink in it. I don’t like pure plums as they make me look a little ill but this has just enough pink in it to brighten up the face. I see this working as a great everyday wear color, it would work across skin tones as well! Compared to the second shade I’ll be reviewing, this is much easier to carry. It does contain a bit of shimmer but its fairly understated and doesn’t give a frosty look. It doesn’t feel gritty or settle into lip lines either. Recommended!
The GOOD about Bourjois Shine Edition Lipstick :
- Beautiful packaging
- Smooth, gel like texture
- Good pigmentation – evens out uneven lips
- Decent wear time
- Very hydrating
- Glossy finish – gives a healthy, plumped up look
- Doesn’t feather/bleed
- Shimmer is understated and non-gritty
The NOT-SO-GOOD about Bourjois Shine Edition Lipstick :
- Shimmer left behind once color fades
If you’re a fan of buttery, hydrating lipstick formulas – you will love this. The packaging is gorgeous and the formula is very comfortable, moisturizing and easy to wear. The sheer, buildable pigmentation is good enough to even out uneven, pigmented lips. Despite this, it wears decently well and leaves the lips soft and moisturized as it fades. No. 25 Mauve Tabloid is soft pinky plum color – great color for everyday wear! Even though the shimmer is very understated, I wish the shade was shimmer-free.
