My take on the Product
The lip crayons come in a chubby crayon packaging – colored plastic twist up pencil form. The packaging has become quite standard across brands now – with only minor color changes here and there.
The texture of this particular crayon is super creamy – its creamier than all the other crayons I’ve tried to far (Clinique, Revlon, Lakme) and it has a lovely balm like glossy finish. It comes in 4 shades and I picked the boldest color – Red Sunrise. Because its quite a bright color, its quite pigmented and gives fully opaque coverage to the lips in a single swipe. It feels quite moisturizing on the lips and doesn’t become stain-like after few hours – it stays like a very pigmented balm. Because of its balm-y texture, it evens out lip lines and gives a smoother, plumper appearance to the lips. It claims 10 hour wear but I get 5 hours at best with this – provided I just take a few sips of water and mild snacks in this duration. It doesn’t stain or dehydrate the lips.
What is different about the Bourjois lip crayon is definitely the texture and the finish. Its really soft and has a glossier finish than the other crayons I’ve tried. The Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains are cheaper but tends to make the lips dry after a while. The Lakme Absolute Lip Tints are slightly more expensive but some of the shades are prone to patchiness. The Clinique Chubby stick Lip balms are sheerer and less glossy, while the Clinique Intense chubby sticks and less hydrating and less glossy.
If you love glossy finish opaque lipsticks, you’d love this one! I really like it because its hydrating, super pigmented and glossy. I’m definitely picking up another shade! Its comes in 4 shades.
Red Sunrise is pinkish red color with a wet glossy finish and no shimmer/glitter. I love cool reds and I really like how this works for my complexion. Its definitely a bright color so if you’re not comfortable with bold lips, you could sheer this out with a clear balm or a nude lipstick instead of wearing it as it is. The other 3 shades in this range are softer and won’t necessarily with Indian skin tones. But this one I see this working nicely with all skin tones. Definitely recommended!
How it looks on me ~

- Attractive, convenient packaging
- Super creamy texture
- Glides like butter on the lips
- Very pigmented
- Gives nearly full coverage
- Very hydrating
- Gives a smoother, fuller look to the lips
- Doesn’t stain/dry the lips
- Good wear time
The NOT-SO-GOOD about Bourjois Color Boost Glossy Finish Lipstick (Crayon) :
- Doesn’t live up to its claim of 10 hour wear
- Limited shade range
Bourjois Color Boost Glossy Finish Lipstick (Crayon) in Red Sunrise is a gorgeous pinkish red color. The formula is lovely – smooth buttery texture, great pigmentation, hydrating wear time. It doesn’t quite stay beyond 5 hours on my lips but it leaves my lips soft, smooth and hydrated. I love the juicy finish it gives to the lips. I can’t think of anything that I don’t like about this product! Except maybe the limited shade range. If you like glossy, opaque lip colors – you’ll love this!
