Lakme has been coming out with loads of lovely products this year (have you seen the new Absolute creme lipsticks?) and today I’m reviewing the Gloss Stylist in shade Burgandy Burn.
Price : Rs 700 for 5 ml (Buy online at Nykaa.com)
My take on the Product
The packaging is quite sleek and compact. Its a rectangular tube with a sleek shiny steel grey cap and a flat sponge tip applicator. I’ve seen a lot of these applicators lately – the Guerlain Gloss D’Enfer lip gloss as the same applicator as well. Because its longer, you can apply the lip gloss in a single swipe on the lips. I do feel more comfortable with the smaller doe foot applicators though because its easier to do the corner and edges with those.
The Lakme Absolute Gloss Stylist is a super pigmented, opaque lip gloss with a very comfortable non-sticky texture. Its loaded with minuscule gold shimmer that doesn’t really show unless you look closely – ideal for those who like glam lips minus chunky, uncomfortable shimmer. These are packed with pigment – more like liquid lipsticks than lip glosses and give full coverage to the lips. If you really sheer it out, you still get a lot of color but with a less intense look. The formula feels great on the lips – quite light weight and non-sticky, very hydrating and wears quite well. Being quite glossy, it gives a smoother, healthier appearance to the lips. It does transfer and hence tends to wear off faster if you eat/drink. But even with that, I get a good 4.5-5 hours unless I’m having something like a giant sandwich which wipes off all color from my lips.
Overall, its a beautiful formula and one of the best opaque lip glosses I’ve tried. It reminds me a lot of the Chambor Intense lip gloss though the Lakme one looks glossier and stays on better. It stains the lips a little too so even once the gloss wears off, you’re left with a little color on the lips. It seems unscented at first but if you pay attention, you’d detect a faint powdery scent.
Burgandy Burn (it pains me to write burgandy but thats the Lakme spelling people!) is a vibrant berry pink color with loads of fine gold shimmer. Its looks brighter on the lips than how it appears in the tube and its a great color for Indian skin – especially darker complexions. I found the other shades in this range more neon-ish bright (at the counter I saw) and I thought this was the most flattering color. The range definitely lacks neutral, wearable colors. But if you like opaque, pigmented glossy lip colors – do check these out!
The GOOD about Lakme Absolute Gloss Stylist Burgandy Burn :
- Sleek, attractive packaging
- Smooth, non-sticky texture
- Very pigmented and glossy
- Quite hydrating
- Stays on well
- Very fine, understated shimmer
The NOT-SO-GOOD about Lakme Absolute Gloss Stylist Burgandy Burn :
- Range lacks neutral colors
Lakme Absolute Gloss Stylist is absolute heaven for women who like opaque, glossy lip colors. The non-sticky, super hydrating formula packs a lot of pigment which gives full coverage and a super shiny pout. I think the formula is amazing and I only wish Lakme had added some neutral, everyday wear colors to this range. Burgandy Burn is a vibrant berry pink with loads of fine gold shimmer, I think it’ll look quite nice on most complexions. Highly recommended!
