When I first saw these pencils, I was really excited because these reminded me of similar crayon eye shadows that Chambor has! These are available in 4 shades and are part of the Limited Edition Temperature Rising collection. I picked up a rich chocolate brown color – Life’s Luxury.
Price : Rs 1200 for 1.6 g
My take on the Product
Its a small chubby crayon pencil which can easily fit in one’s hand. While I like the handy packaging, I do not like the fact that it needs to be sharpened. I think the Clinique Chubby stick eye shadow (not yet launched in India) twist up packaging is so much more useful and reduces wastage of product due to sharpening.
The texture of the pencil is soft and smooth. It glides smoothly onto the eyes without being crumbly. The pigmentation is amazing and you need just a single pass to get full intensity color onto the skin. It glides easily onto the waterline as well and doesn’t sting or irritate the eyes. The formula doesn’t feel greasy or waxy and dries quickly. It sets into a smudgeproof, waterproof finish some time after application so you need to work quickly if you’d like to blend/smudge it. The shimmer is very fine and nicely integrated into the formula, it doesn’t feel gritty or chunky which is excellent because one wouldn’t have been able to use it on the waterline otherwise.
The staying power is excellent! I have oily lids and most eye shadows tend to crease in 4 hours if used without a primer but this one wears for 9-10 hours on bare lids without creasing! On my waterline also it fared quite well. No smudging or bleeding into the under eye area and solid color for 6 hours before it began to fade a little. Overall, it feels like a paint pot-like product (but more pigmented) in a crayon packaging that makes it so much easier to use – as eye shadow as well as a liner. I wish MAC would make this part of the permanent collection.
Life’s luxury is a rich chocolate brown color with fine coppery shimmer. I think it might be similar to Teddy Kohl from MAC and Rich Chocolate eye liner from Clinique. Its a beautiful color that would look good on most people and one can do instant brown smokey eyes with this product. I absolutely love how rich the color looks – its not a dull flat boring brown! I love this product and I’d recommend it to everyone. The range contains a champagne shade, a lighter coppery brown shade and a dark shimmery charcoal color. I wanted the first 2 as well but they were sold out by the time I got to the store!
The GOOD about MAC Powerchrome Eye Pencil :

- Glides smoothly on the lids and waterline
- Richly pigmented
- Long wearing
- Sets into smudgeproof, waterproof finish
- Does not sting the eyes
- Shimmer is fine and non-gritty

The NOT-SO-GOOD about MAC Powerchrome Eye Pencil :
- Needs to be sharpened – leads to product wastage
- Limited Edition
MAC Powerchrome Eye Pencil is a creamy, richly pigmented eye pencil that doubles up as an eye shadow – ideal for quick looks! It sets into a smudge-proof, water-proof finish on application and doesn’t budge for hours. Its long wearing and stays well as a shadow on the lid as well as along the waterline. The crayon packaging makes it really handy and easy to use – I just wish it was a twist up pencil and not a sharpenable one! Comes in 4 great neutral colors but is Limited Edition. Life’s Luxury is a gorgeous rich chocolate color with a hint of shimmer. Highly recommended!
Formula does remind me of Paint pots but this is handier, more pigmented but more expensive (1.6 g for Rs 1200 v/s 3 g for Rs 1100).
