Today I’m reviewing a wearable, pretty pastel green eye shadow from NYX – Lime Green.
Price : $4.50 for 2 g (Rs 375-400 in India)
My take on the Product
NYX eye shadows come in a simple plastic packaging – black square pan with transparent lid (same as the blushes, just smaller in size). I quite like the quilted pattern on the surface which has become a signature of NYX powder eye shadows and blushes. The packaging is not super sturdy but its not too flimsy either.
The eye shadow has a soft, smooth, almost buttery texture. The color pay off is excellent. Because of its smooth texture, its barely takes any effort to blend but for the same reason, it can be slightly powdery in the pan. The shimmer is finely milled and well integrated into the formula so it gives more of a gold sheen than explicit shimmer to the lids. I find the formula really easy to work with. The staying power is average though – it begins to crease and fade after about 4-4.5 hours of wear without primer. With a primer, the wear extends by a couple of hours.
The shade Lime Green is a soft gold green shade – because its got quite a bit of gold in it, it doesn’t look too green or bright on the eyes. In fact from far it looks more gold with barely any green. I think its a beautiful shade that’ll work across skin tones. Because of its warmth, it’ll look beautiful against the Indian skin. If you want to do a pastel look, this would be the perfect color for it! I used it in my Pastel Makeup Tutorial HERE.
The GOOD about NYX eye shadow Lime Green :
- Transparent lid packaging – allows color to show through
- Soft, buttery texture
- Blends easily
- Fine gold shimmer – no fall out or uneven-ness
- Soft, wearable color
- Will work for all skin tones
The NOT-SO-GOOD about NYX eye shadow Lime Green :
- Average staying power [without primer]
- Can be slightly powdery in the pan
- Not easily available in India [I couldn’t find this shade on Indian websites]
NYX Lime Green eye shadow is a soft gold-green shade that looks great against the warm Indian skin. The formula is very easy to work with – soft buttery texture that blends easily and good color pay off. If you’re looking to add a little bit of soft color to your look – this is a great shade. You might need a primer underneath though – it begins to crease after about 4 hours on my oily lids without one.
